[Analogue](https://www.analogue.co/?ref=unknowndivide.com) opened preorders today for Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+, new versions of its hardware consoles for original Super Nintendo, Super Famicom, Sega Genesis, Mega Drive and Master System cartridges. The company introduced both systems on October 16 and posted "Preorder now" on its [official X account](https://x.com/analogue/status/2112197077417755058?ref=unknowndivide.com) at 11 AM Eastern Time (ET) this morning. Both ship in December 2026, and a few hours in, most versions already show as out of stock.

## What sold out first

Each console comes in three versions. Super Nt+ is offered in Classic, SF and Black. Mega Sg+ comes in USA, EU and JP versions. When we checked the [Analogue store](https://store.analogue.co/?ref=unknowndivide.com) this afternoon, Super Nt+ Classic, Super Nt+ SF, Mega Sg+ USA and Mega Sg+ EU were all marked out of stock. Super Nt+ Black and Mega Sg+ JP could still be preordered.

## What changed from the originals

The first Super Nt arrived in 2017, and Analogue first announced Mega Sg in 2018\. Analogue says the core of each system carries over: a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) chip, an Altera Cyclone V, that the company engineered to recreate the original consoles in hardware rather than emulate them in software. Both play real cartridges in the slot, not game files.

The new parts are around that core:

- Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz wireless built in, with a dedicated pairing button for 8BitDo controllers, 8BitDo arcade sticks and modern gamepads
- Wired priority, so plugging in an original-style controller takes over from a wireless one
- USB-C power, plus a USB-A port for Analogue's digital-to-analog converter (DAC) or for charging controllers
- Hot-swappable cartridges: quit a game from the menu and swap carts without powering down
- Power on and off from the player one controller
- A redesigned case, new retail packaging and an updated operating system

Video runs over HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) at up to 1080p, with 8:7, 4:3 and 1:1 aspect options and adjustable scanlines. Audio is 48 kHz, 16-bit. Both systems are region free and can run a cartridge at NTSC or PAL speed. With the Analogue DAC, either one can also connect to a cathode-ray tube (CRT) television or a professional video monitor (PVM).

## Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+ in detail

[Super Nt+](https://www.analogue.co/super-nt?ref=unknowndivide.com) works with the library of more than 2,200 Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and Super Famicom cartridges.

[Mega Sg+](https://www.analogue.co/mega-sg?ref=unknowndivide.com) covers Genesis, Mega Drive and Master System games, and a Master System cartridge adapter is in the box. Separate adapters add Game Gear, Sega My Card, Mark III and SG-1000/SC-3000 games. An original-style connector lets you attach an original Sega CD or Mega CD, and a Sega CD spacer is included. You can also choose which console model's sound chip you hear, including the YM2612 behind so many Genesis soundtracks.

Both boxes include an HDMI cable, a USB-C cable, a worldwide USB-C power supply and two cartridge cleaners.

## What is not included

Read the fine print before you order. Controllers are sold separately; Analogue points to the [8BitDo](https://www.8bitdo.com/?ref=unknowndivide.com) SN30 and M30 as wireless matches. Neither console ships with a built-in game, unlike the originals, which came with Super Turrican Director's Cut and Ultracore. They also do not support openFPGA, Analogue's platform for community-made cores, or extras from Analogue 3D such as save states and screenshots. The USB-A port will not take wired USB controllers.

## Our call

This one is Surfacing. Analogue's originals already ran 16-bit cartridges in sharp 1080p on a modern TV. These updates add the everyday conveniences they lacked: wireless pads, USB-C and swapping games without a reboot. If you have a shelf of carts and want the Classic or USA look, you may have to wait for another batch. The Black and JP versions were still open when we checked, so if color does not matter, do not wait.
