Apple just refreshed the 14-inch MacBook Pro with a new M6 chip. [In a press release today](https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2026/10/apple-introduces-the-new-14-inch-macbook-pro-with-m6/?ref=unknowndivide.com), October 27, the company positioned the laptop for college students, business users and creators who want more on-device AI, faster connectivity and all-day battery in a portable pro machine. Pre-orders open tomorrow, October 28, and the laptop ships Friday, November 6.

## M6 performance and AI

- **CPU:** A 12-core CPU that Apple calls home to the world's fastest CPU core, aimed at everyday multitasking through demanding pro workflows.
- **GPU:** A 12-core GPU with Neural Accelerators in each core, up to 30 percent faster graphics versus M5, plus a third-generation ray-tracing engine and Dynamic Caching.
- **AI:** Dual 16-core Neural Engine and up to 25 percent faster AI workloads versus M5\. Versus M1, Apple cites up to 11x faster graphics and up to 13x faster AI performance. The chip is built for Siri AI, Apple Intelligence and running LLMs locally with on-device privacy.
- **Memory:** 16GB of unified memory standard, configurable up to 32GB, with memory bandwidth up to 170GB/s.
- **Battery:** Up to 24 hours of battery life, which Apple calls the longest ever in a Mac.

## Display, ports and design

The display is Liquid Retina XDR, not OLED and not a touchscreen. Peak HDR brightness reaches up to 1600 nits with a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and a nano-texture option is available for bright or glare-heavy rooms. Connectivity moves up to Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, with support for up to two external displays. Ports include HDMI, MagSafe 3, three Thunderbolt 4, an SDXC card slot and a headphone jack.

A 12MP Center Stage camera with Desk View handles framing on video calls. The six-speaker system supports Spatial Audio, and a three-mic array covers studio-style capture. Fast charging can reach up to 50 percent in 30 minutes with a compatible higher-wattage USB-C adapter such as Apple's 96W Power Adapter. Finishes are space black and silver, with an enclosure made from 100 percent recycled aluminum.

## Our call

This one is Surfacing. M6, 24-hour battery claims and the familiar Liquid Retina XDR package make this the practical 14-inch upgrade for people who skipped M5 or are still on M1\. It is not the OLED MacBook Pro rumor track; that watch stays separate. If you need a portable pro laptop before the holidays, October 28 is the pre-order day to watch.
