**The Bambu Lab H3C is here, and it is the 3D printer everyone in the maker world is searching for this week.** Announced on November 3, the Bambu H3C is [Bambu Lab's first third-generation printer](https://bambulab.com/en-us/h3c?ref=unknowndivide.com), a nine-tool changer with its filament system built right into the body. No external racks, no spaghetti of feed tubes, and a footprint Bambu Lab says is comparable to a single-nozzle machine.

The pitch is simple and a little audacious. Bambu Lab argues that multi-material printers have always made you pick between fast, reliable and easy. The H3C is its attempt to stop making you choose.

## Swaptek: nine tools that swap in seconds

At the center of the H3C is Swaptek, a tool-changing system with nine print tools. Each tool has its own filament path and its own heater, so a color or material change is a physical swap rather than a long purge. With Active Pre-Heat warming the next tool before it is needed, Bambu Lab says a switch takes under six seconds. The company has published [a detailed breakdown of how Swaptek works](https://blog.bambulab.com/swaptek-system-how-does-it-work/?ref=unknowndivide.com) for anyone who wants the mechanics.

The tools are not only for plastic. Swaptek also runs a CutTool, a DrawTool and a DebossTool, which turns the printer into a small fabrication cell that can cut, sketch and press detail into a part in the same job. The new FlexFeed Extruder takes both 1.75 and 2.85 millimeter filament and handles thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) as soft as 75A, the squishy end of the range used for shoe soles and grips.

## AMS 3H: storage and drying built in

Filament lives in the AMS 3H, the new version of Bambu Lab's Automatic Material System (AMS). It is fully enclosed, reads radio frequency identification (RFID) spool tags and holds nine spools. Two slots can dry filament at up to 85°C while a print is running, which matters for moisture-sensitive materials. Bambu Lab also notes that most tool changers are capped at as many materials as they have tools. Connect an older AMS unit through tool 1 and the H3C reaches 24 materials.

## Bambu H3C build volume and specs

- **Build volume:** 330 × 320 × 325 mm
- **Speed:** up to 1,400 mm/s, with acceleration up to 25,000 mm/s² thanks to a lighter toolhead and X-axis
- **Heat:** 350°C nozzles, a 120°C bed and a 65°C actively heated chamber for engineering materials
- **Nozzles:** 0.2, 0.4, 0.6 and 0.8 mm
- **Air:** an H11 high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter
- **Size and weight:** 493 × 571 × 587 mm, about 36.3 kg
- **Monitoring:** dual-camera artificial intelligence (AI) failure detection, plus an on-screen MiniWiki for Health Management System (HMS) error codes

Optional extras include the top-down BirdsEye camera, whose AI monitoring is planned for the first half of 2027, a Vision Encoder for sub-50 micron calibration, the E1 air purifier and the Bambu Station L stand, which lifts the printer to working height and adds storage underneath.

## Bambu H3C release date and where to buy

The H3C went on sale November 3 through the [Bambu Lab Official Store](https://us.store.bambulab.com/products/h3c?ref=unknowndivide.com). Orders placed now are listed as backorders, with the US store estimating shipping around November 20, 2026\. Bambu Lab sells it as the H3C with AMS 3H, with a Filament Bundle, and in Station Bundles with an enclosed or open stand. Check the store for current pricing, since the Bambu Lab store is already running its Black Friday sale on other printers and accessories.

## Bambu Lab H3C vs H2C

If you already own a second-generation machine, you are not left behind. Bambu Lab says [the H2D, H2C and X2D will support hybrid printing with multi-orifice nozzles](https://blog.bambulab.com/h2d-h2c-and-x2d-will-support-hybrid-printing-with-multi-orifice-nozzles/?ref=unknowndivide.com), starting with the H2D in November 2026 and reaching the H2C and X2D in February 2027\. The H3C is the clean-sheet answer: more tools, integrated drying and storage, and the cutting and drawing tools the H2 series does not have.

## Why it matters

Desktop printing is quietly becoming a design tool, not a hobby gadget. Studios like Rollo are already [printing lighting you would hang in a living room](https://www.unknowndivide.com/rollo-studio-u-collection-3d-printed-lighting/), and a printer that changes materials in seconds without wasting a pile of purge plastic makes that kind of work far more practical at home. If the H3C is on your holiday list, keep our [early Black Friday 2026 calendar](https://www.unknowndivide.com/early-black-friday-2026-dates-best-buy-target-walmart/) handy, and read [what Bambu Lab says the H3C brings to makers](https://blog.bambulab.com/what-h3c-brings-to-makers/?ref=unknowndivide.com) before you order.
