Italian sofa design rarely asks you to float furniture in the middle of the room. [Bonaldo's Grant](https://www.bonaldo.com/en/products/sofas/grant?ref=unknowndivide.com) does. Designed by [Massimo Castagna](https://cms.bonaldo.com/en/designer/massimo-castagna?ref=unknowndivide.com), the modular sofa builds itself from a sequence of broad, continuous curves: semicircular modules and semi-arc elements that stack into a soft landscape without angles or breaks.

## Bonaldo Grant sofa: curves without corners

Official Bonaldo copy says the uninterrupted curved lines suggest a free arrangement and encourage conviviality, pulling people closer and making interaction more immediate. That is why Grant is pitched for the center of a room, not only the wall. The compositional development helps organize space and define social zones instead of hugging a single edge.

Upholstery comes in fabric or leather. Underneath, a metal sled base sits set back from the upholstered volume so the soft form reads lighter and the curves stay visually primary. Module depths and heights are published on the product page, including curved penisola and pouf options that let the plan grow into large compositions over 4 meters wide when fully built out.

The sled detail is the quiet hero. By tucking the metal under the upholstery instead of ringing the perimeter, Castagna keeps the silhouette soft from every approach, which matters when the sofa is an island instead of a wall piece.

## Living with Bonaldo's 26 Collection

Grant sits inside Bonaldo's 26 Collection living story, next to rounded companions like the [Aldebaran](https://www.bonaldo.com/en/products/sofas/aldebaran?ref=unknowndivide.com) sofa, another soft, edge-free modular system. Browse the brand's [modern designer sofas](https://www.bonaldo.com/en/category/modern-designer-sofas/?ref=unknowndivide.com) for the full curved lineup, then open the [Living environment](https://www.bonaldo.com/en/environment/living?ref=unknowndivide.com) page for room-scale context. Start from the [Bonaldo](https://www.bonaldo.com/en/?ref=unknowndivide.com) homepage or the Grant page for catalogs, finishes and store locator links.

Castagna's other Bonaldo pieces on his designer page sit in the same soft-modern lane, so Grant is not a one-off experiment. It is part of a longer conversation about how Italian residential furniture can feel social without looking corporate. If your room already has a hard-edged table or rug, Grant's continuous curves are the counterweight that keeps the plan from reading like an office lounge.

Finish choices will decide how loud the statement is. A pale fabric keeps the island quiet. A deeper leather turns the sled base into a shadow line and makes the curve read from across the room. Either way, the geometry stays the same: modules that want company, not corners.

## Why it matters

This one is Surfacing. A center-room curved modular from a major Italian house is a clear alternative to the endless straight sectional, and Castagna's sled-base detail keeps the mass from feeling parked. Put it beside the glow of [Modular Lighting Instruments' alabaster collection](https://www.unknowndivide.com/modular-lighting-instruments-alabaster-lighting-november-collection-2026/), the hanging cabinet energy of [L'Atelier du Vin's Curiosities Cabinet](https://www.unknowndivide.com/latelier-du-vin-wine-accessories-gift-set-curiosities-cabinet/), and the gift shortlist in [gifts for design lovers](https://www.unknowndivide.com/gifts-for-design-lovers/).
