Pearl Abyss released Charting the Unknown, the first major expansion for Crimson Desert Enhanced, on October 29, and it takes Kliff and the Greymanes off the continent of Pywel and out to sea. If you finished the main story and wondered what comes next, this is the answer: ships, diving, new storylines, romance, castles of your own and a boss rush mode. Pearl Abyss confirmed the launch in an [official notice](https://crimsondesert.pearlabyss.com/EN-US/News/Notice/Detail?%5FboardNo=143&ref=unknowndivide.com), and the expansion is out on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, [Steam](https://store.steampowered.com/app/5001840/Crimson%5FDesert%5FEnhanced%5FCharting%5Fthe%5FUnknown/?ref=unknowndivide.com), the Epic Games Store and the Mac App Store. On every platform you can also buy it from the Buy DLC menu on the game's title screen. Video: Pearl Abyss ## What the Crimson Desert DLC adds The studio's [features overview](https://crimsondesert.pearlabyss.com/EN-US/News/Notice/Detail?%5FboardNo=137&ref=unknowndivide.com) lays out the new content and when each piece unlocks: - **Three new stories:** one each for Kliff, Oongka and Damiane, started from the Journal menu once the main story is done. - **An ocean storyline:** opens after you complete Howling Hill in the main story. - **Diving:** all three heroes can swim beneath the waves to find ruins, treasure chests, new creatures and new mounts. Breath runs out, so a diving suit helps. - **Your own ship:** build one through a dispatch mission at a port, or buy one from a Fleet Office manager, then sail the Great Ocean of Pywel. - **Romance and festivals:** deeper bonds with Pywel's people that can lead to romance and marriage, and friends who visit your Greymane Camp. - **Upgraded housing:** build a house from the ground up. - **Greymane Castles:** liberate three strongholds and claim them, then decorate the courtyards and interiors. - **Business management:** rent and run facilities, from a restaurant in Vellua to a smithy at Zargan Tankworks. - **Garden of Trials:** a combat challenge that sends bosses from your journey at you one after another, with special rewards for clearing it. ## Before you start Most of the new systems sit behind progress in the base game. The new character stories, castles and Garden of Trials need the main story finished, and ships, housing and business management need your Greymane Camp set up at Howling Hill. Pearl Abyss also asks players to update to the latest game version before playing so the base game and the expansion work as intended. ## Try the base game first Not sure about Pywel yet? A five hour free trial of the Crimson Desert Enhanced base game is live for PlayStation Plus Premium and Deluxe members until October 29, 2027, and for all players on Xbox until January 7, 2027\. Progress carries over if you buy the full game, but the trial does not include Charting the Unknown, and it is one use per account. ## Twitch Drops for the launch A two week [Twitch Drops event](https://crimsondesert.pearlabyss.com/EN-US/News/Notice/Detail?%5FboardNo=136&ref=unknowndivide.com) started with the release. Rewards include equipment, a pet and custom parts for your ship. Week 1 runs through November 4 (UTC) and can be used by anyone who owns the base game. Week 2 runs from November 5 to November 11 (UTC), and those rewards only work for expansion owners. Pearl Abyss notes that for now you claim rewards with the Claim button in stream chat, then link your Twitch account on the event page. Into game music as much as the games?
