## Inside the release

Complex is the first part of a series from Death By Drone, the electronic project of Bryan Thomas Burdick, according to the notes. It takes its starting point from President Dwight D. Eisenhower's January 17, 1961 farewell address and its warning about the military-industrial complex. The album covers events from 1961 to 2011, with tracks tied to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, the Church Committee hearings of the 1970s and September 11.

## From the release notes

The notes on the album's Bandcamp page set the scene: "This conceptual album marks the first installment in a series that delves deep into the themes of dystopia and the enduring influence of the Military-Industrial Complex. Inspired by former President Dwight D. Eisenhower's famous farewell address to Congress on January 17, 1961, Complex explores the far-reaching implications of Eisenhower's warning about the Military-Industrial Complex and its impact on society."

Later, the notes add: "Complex poses profound questions: Did we heed Eisenhower's warning? Could we have changed our course? Where is society headed now, and have we become indifferent to the forces shaping our world?"
