- Description: Django Django's sixth studio album, Doveland, is out now on Clouds Hill. It takes its name from an online myth about a vanished midwest town, was recorded in the German countryside, and is on vinyl and CD, with Cameos as the lead single.

Django Django have spent more than a decade hopping between psych, dance and art-pop. [Doveland](https://www.cloudshill.com/releases/doveland?ref=unknowndivide.com), their sixth studio album, does the opposite. It is out now on Clouds Hill, and it is the most inward record they have made: 12 tracks named after a place you will not find on a map.

## Why the album is called Doveland

Clouds Hill says the title comes from an online urban myth: a midwest town that appears on no maps, though some people insist they once lived there and even keep souvenirs as proof. The band treated that search for an impossible place as the starting point for the record. The label calls it their most personal and focused album to date, quietly shaped by loss, grief and how briefly people stay in one another's lives. ## Django Django Doveland tracklist

The running order on the official Clouds Hill release is Meteorite, Cameos, Still Life, Little Me (featuring Hak Baker), Year of the Snake, Quicksand, Left Adrift, So Heavy, Bird Song, Indigo Road, Dirty Hotel Blues and Feel Alright (featuring Max Pope).

Cameos is the lead single, written during one of the lockdowns. The band has said the lyric is about grief, and about how the people who matter most only walk through part of your story. They had J. G. Ballard's Concrete Island and The Truman Show in mind when the word "cameos" landed. ## Recorded in the German countryside

Instead of stacking genres the way earlier Django Django records did, the four-piece went to the German countryside with producer Nick McCarthy of Franz Ferdinand and composer-producer Polly Ester. The artist site put it simply: the new album, Doveland, is out on 6 November 2026\. That date has now arrived.

## Doveland vinyl and CD

The [official Django Django shop](https://shop.djangodjango.co.uk/?ref=unknowndivide.com) has the album on black vinyl, an apricot vinyl edition and CD, alongside a Cameos seven-inch and a Feel Alright seven-inch with Max Pope. Those singles sit next to the full album rather than replacing it, so you can take the record in pieces or all at once, depending on how you like to listen. Clouds Hill also lists Doveland for streaming.

A lot of bands loosen up as they go. Django Django have tightened the frame and written about absence, which makes Doveland feel like a different kind of record than the ones that made their name. If you want more albums that treat place as a character, read about the [Flaming Lips on Third Man](https://www.unknowndivide.com/flaming-lips-the-teardrop-throbs-third-man-records/), and for another current art-rock dispatch, start with [Fontaines D.C. and Dopamine Chamber](https://www.unknowndivide.com/fontaines-dc-dopamine-chamber-album-out-now-rosalia/).
