The Filson Journeyman Backpack takes a different path, using waxed canvas, heavy twill, cotton Moleskin and leather. It is a daypack that looks at home on a trail or a commute, and it is built from the same materials Filson uses in its outerwear and luggage. Filson describes it as a tightly woven canvas duck that has been thoroughly saturated with wax for water resistance, meant to protect your gear from wet weather. The company says this adds structure and durability. The base is the part of any pack that gets set down on wet ground, pavement and train floors, so using a heavy twill there makes sense. The back panel benefits from the added structure because it is what sits against you all day. ## Straps and leather The padded shoulder straps are lined with Moleskin cotton, which Filson says adds comfort and helps minimize slipping.
