Some records arrive too early and spend twenty years being proved right. Hood's *Cold House* is one of them. [Domino has announced](https://www.dominomusic.com/news/us/domino-to-reissue-hoods-seminal-cold-house-album?ref=unknowndivide.com) a 25th anniversary edition of the 2001 album, out November 13, 2026, with a new booklet, an audiophile double vinyl cut and a stack of b-sides, early recordings and a 2002 BBC radio session. To mark the news, that session is already out, and you can hear it below.

## Who Hood are

Hood started in Wetherby, a small market town in West Yorkshire, in 1990\. Brothers Chris and Richard Adams were at the center of it, and through the nineties the band moved from scrappy lo-fi singles toward something slower, colder and far more patient. They never chased a scene. They just kept getting stranger in a quiet way, which is usually how the records that last get made.

## Why Cold House still sounds new

*Cold House* is where everything clicked. The bones are slowcore, post-rock and English folk: hushed vocals, guitars that ring out over long silences, songs about weather and distance. Then the band laid glitchy IDM programming over the top, cut-up beats and clicks that sound like frost forming on a window. The wildest move was inviting Doseone and Why? of the experimental rap trio cLOUDDEAD to rap on it. On paper, that should not work. On the record, the abstract verses slide right into the fog.

In 2001 that mix had nowhere obvious to go. Today it reads like a blueprint. Domino points to its influence on a new wave of artists including Bar Italia, Claire Rousay, More Eaze and Chanel Beads, all of whom blur bedroom songwriting, ambient texture and electronic detail the way Hood did first.

## What is in the reissue

The ten original tracks run from "They Removed All Trace That Anything Had Ever Happened Here" to "You're Worth The Whole World," with "The Winter Hit Hard," "I Can't Find My Brittle Youth" and "Lines Low To Frozen Ground" in between. Around them:

- A new booklet with an extended interview by the music writer Simon Reynolds, plus archival photos
- An audiophile double vinyl cut of the album
- On the digital and CD editions, extra b-sides and early recordings
- A 2002 session for the BBC Radio 3 show Mixing It, digital only, with "You Show No Emotion At All," "Lines Low To Frozen Ground" and "You're Worth The Whole World"

## The formats to know

Domino is pressing it five ways: an Exclusive Deluxe 2xLP, a Deluxe CD, a standard 2xLP, a single LP and a CD. The one collectors will want is the [Exclusive Deluxe 2xLP](https://www.dominomusic.com/releases/hood/cold-house/exclusive-deluxe-2xlp?ref=unknowndivide.com): two black discs, an A4 booklet with the Reynolds interview and a limited Hood logo sticker, listed at $55 on Domino's US store. The Deluxe CD is $16, the standard 2xLP is $25 and the single LP is $22.

## Our call

This is a Signal. Hood never had the big moment, and that is exactly why this matters. *Cold House* is a lone, odd, beautiful record that quietly shaped a lot of what you hear in the underground right now, and now it finally gets the treatment it deserves. The deluxe double LP is the version to get, and the BBC session is the easiest way in this week.
