# Isla Electronics Releases ASYX Andromeda Plugin

[Isla Electronics](https://islaelectronics.com/asyx?ref=unknowndivide.com) has released ASYX, a software recreation of the Alesis Andromeda A6 synthesizer. The plugin runs as Audio Units (AU), Virtual Studio Technology 3 (VST3) and standalone on macOS and Windows, with a Linux build listed as coming later. ## What ASYX models

According to Isla Electronics, ASYX models the behaviour of the A6 custom oscillator Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs), whose analogue design drew on the Moog 921B. Each voice has two oscillators with simultaneous waveforms, pulse-width control, sub-oscillators, hard and soft sync, and frequency modulation. Noise and ring modulation feed a pre-filter mixer.

The dual filter path models an Oberheim SEM-derived 12 dB/octave multimode filter and a Moog 904A-derived 24 dB/octave filter, with low-pass, high-pass, band-pass and notch responses, series or parallel routing, and separate pre- and post-filter mixing. Modulation includes three low-frequency oscillators (LFOs) with six waveforms, three seven-stage envelopes, and a deep routing matrix. A 16-step sequencer and an arpeggiator sit alongside 29 digital effect algorithms, and an Analogue control scales voice-level variation for tuning, filters, envelopes and drift.

## Multitimbral mix mode and hardware bridge

Mix mode gives up to 16 parts per plugin instance, each with its own program, Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) channel, key range, level and output route. The library ships with more than 1,200 programs, including original factory sounds and artist banks. Owners of a hardware Andromeda A6 can import original System Exclusive (SysEx) programs and banks, and with MIDI connected in both directions they can edit from either the plugin or the hardware. ASYX also runs as a standalone instrument, so a digital audio workstation (DAW) is optional.

Formats listed on the product page are AU, VST3 and standalone on macOS Big Sur or later (Intel and Apple Silicon), and VST3 and standalone on Windows 10 or later (64-bit). The licence is perpetual, usable on up to three computers at once, with future versions included and activations managed from an Isla Electronics account.
