# Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa Built a CASETiFY Collection Out of Death Stranding, and Launch Day Got Wild

When [KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS](https://www.kojimaproductions.jp/?ref=unknowndivide.com) puts its name on something, people line up. So when [CASETiFY](https://www.casetify.com/?ref=unknowndivide.com) opened the doors on [KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS x CASETiFY](https://www.casetify.com/co-lab/kojima-productions?ref=unknowndivide.com) on October 15, launch day did not go quietly. CASETiFY Japan posted an apology for a system failure on release day, and the brand's main account was telling fans in the queue that the website issue had been fixed and the Ludens gear was ready to browse. For a phone case drop, that is a serious level of fan heat.

## Designed in Kojima's studio

This is not a sticker sheet slapped on a case. CASETiFY's official release says the collection was designed with Hideo Kojima and the studio's art director Yoji Shinkawa inside the KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS studio in Tokyo. The goal was to pull the studio's digital worlds into real objects, so instead of flat prints, a lot of the pieces use raised, sculpted shapes and details you can feel with your thumb. The timing is a double anniversary: CASETiFY turns 15 and KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS turns 10.

Kojima clearly approves. He reposted CASETiFY Japan's launch announcement on his own account on release day.

## The cases

The centerpiece is the Yoji Shinkawa Original Design 3D Crafted Aluminum Case, the piece that best shows off the sculpted approach. Two more special editions sit next to it: the Yoji Shinkawa Art Edition From Sapiens to Ludens case with a gold camera ring, and the Ludens Emblem Carbon Fiber Case. Below those is a deep bench of tough everyday cases carrying studio graphics made for *Death Stranding 2* and for the studio's 10th anniversary, plus cleaner designs built around the studio logo and the Damage Sensor Tape artwork that fans will recognize instantly. CASETiFY says the cases cover Apple, Samsung and Google devices, though not every model gets every design.

## Dollman, a duck and a Qpid

The accessories are where it gets fun. There is a DEATH STRANDING Qpid wristlet, plush keychains of Dollman and a Ludens duck, and metal grip stands stamped with the Ludens gold disc or the studio emblem. The collection even stretches to luggage, so you can carry your cargo like a proper porter.

Every purchase also comes with a collectible chase card printed with official studio graphics. They ship blind, so you will not know which design you pulled until you open it. Buy the 3D Crafted Aluminum Case and you get two exclusive card designs that are not in the regular set, which is exactly the kind of detail that turns a phone case into a collector chase.
