Louis Vuitton menswear has passed through five very different design leads in about 25 years, and every one of them left a mark on how men dress. Now all of it sits in one hardback. [Louis Vuitton Menswear CATWALK](https://thamesandhudson.com.au/products/louis-vuitton-menswear-catwalk?ref=unknowndivide.com), written by Anders Christian Madsen and published by Thames & Hudson, is the first complete record of the house's men's runway collections, and it is out this month.

## What's in the Louis Vuitton Menswear Catwalk Book

The publisher describes it as the first complete history of the menswear line, running from Marc Jacobs's first designs in 1999 to the shows Pharrell Williams is putting on in 2026\. In between come the eras of Paul Helbers, Kim Jones and Virgil Abloh. The book opens with an introduction, then works through more than 50 collections in order, with a biography for each designer and more than 1,200 runway photographs covering clothes, details, accessories and set designs.

It is a big object. Thames & Hudson lists it at 632 pages, hardback, roughly 29 by 20 cm, which puts it in coffee table territory. Like the rest of the series, it is cloth bound and described as official and authorized, meaning it was made in close collaboration with the house rather than assembled from the outside.

## The Supreme Show, on Page 350

The sample spreads the publisher has shared give a good sense of how the book reads. One opens on Autumn/Winter 2017 to 2018 under the heading Supreme and Streetwear Culture. The text walks through the show Kim Jones presented in January 2017, the collaboration that put the Louis Vuitton Monogram together with the red Supreme Box Logo on clothes, skateboards and skateboard trunks. It notes the show was staged in a brightly lit structure inside the Cour Carrée of the Louvre, and that the main collection drew on New York figures from Basquiat and Keith Haring to Dapper Dan. The facing pages are all runway shots: red Monogram bags, navy tailoring, white sneakers.

That is the format throughout. Each collection gets a short piece of context and then the pictures do the work. If you only know that season from the hype around the drop, it is a useful reminder that it was a runway collection first. Our explainer on [how Supreme drops work](https://www.unknowndivide.com/supreme-drops-explained/) covers the other side of that story.

## Part of the Catwalk Series

The book joins the long running [Catwalk series](https://thamesandhudson.com.au/collections/catwalk?ref=unknowndivide.com), which the publisher says has more than 2.5 million copies in print. The shelf already includes volumes on Chanel, Dior, Prada, Yves Saint Laurent, Vivienne Westwood, Jean Paul Gaultier, Ralph Lauren and an earlier [Louis Vuitton CATWALK](https://thamesandhudson.com.au/products/louis-vuitton-catwalk?ref=unknowndivide.com) devoted to the women's collections from Marc Jacobs onward. Menswear getting its own volume says something about how central the men's shows have become to the house.

## Who It Is For

If you collect fashion books, this fills an obvious gap. If you follow menswear, it is the easiest way to watch the line change hands from Jacobs to Helbers, Jones, Abloh and Williams, season by season, without hunting through archived show pages. It sits well next to the titles in our list of [design books every designer should own](https://www.unknowndivide.com/best-design-books-every-designer-should-own/), and next to more personal takes on fashion imagery like [Tina Barney's Fashion](https://www.unknowndivide.com/tina-barney-fashion-aperture-book/).

The book is available through [Thames & Hudson](https://www.thamesandhudson.com/?ref=unknowndivide.com) and booksellers, and the collections it covers live on at [Louis Vuitton](https://www.louisvuitton.com/?ref=unknowndivide.com).
