The **Mouthwashing Xbox Game Pass release** is locked for October 29\. Developer [Wrong Organ](https://www.wrongorgan.com/?ref=unknowndivide.com) and publisher [CRITICAL REFLEX](https://www.criticalreflex.com/mouthwashing?ref=unknowndivide.com) are taking the first-person space horror game off PC for the first time, and Xbox is only one stop. The same day, Mouthwashing lands on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.

## What is coming on October 29

In its second anniversary update on the official [Mouthwashing Steam news page](https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/2475490?ref=unknowndivide.com), the team confirmed the game will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch on October 29\. Xbox's own announcement from the ID@Xbox showcase (the Microsoft program for independent developers) adds the detail Game Pass players care about: Mouthwashing arrives on day one with Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium and PC Game Pass, and it also comes to Xbox on PC.

Steam players are not left out. The October 29 update adds Italian as a language option. A new console trailer premiered during the publisher's own CRITICAL REFLEX Time showcase, and the studio's message to fans was simple: share it with the friend who plays from the couch.

On the Xbox store the game is rated Mature 17+, which tracks. This is not a jump-scare carnival. It is a slow, sick, beautifully lit story about people who already know how it ends.

## The ship, the crew and Captain Curly

Mouthwashing first launched on [Steam](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2475490/Mouthwashing/?ref=unknowndivide.com) on September 26, 2024\. The setup, in the studio's own words: the five crew members of the Tulpar are stranded in the empty reaches of space, shrouded in perpetual sunset. God is not watching.

The Tulpar is a shipwrecked space freighter, and the reason it is drifting is its captain. Curly survived what he did, but barely: maimed, limbless and unable to speak, he is now at the mercy of the crew he doomed to a slow death. Food runs out long before the power does, and the power has six months at most. The game's key features read like warnings. Pay attention to your surroundings. Your eyes are lying. Hope to die.

That low-polygon, smeared, red-and-amber look is a big part of why the game spread the way it did. The screenshots alone sell the mood: emergency signage, dead fluorescent light, cheerful corporate posters turning sour. It plays short and leaves a mark.

## Why the console jump matters

Xbox's announcement puts numbers on the cult status. Mouthwashing has sold more than 800,000 copies on Steam and took Best Narrative and Players' Choice at the Horror Game Awards. Putting it on Game Pass on day one hands the game to a huge audience that never had a gaming PC, right as horror season peaks.

It is also a big week for CRITICAL REFLEX, a Cyprus-based publisher with a taste for the bizarre. Its egg-flipping physics sim Arctic Eggs is already out on Xbox, and the paranoia thriller No, I'm Not a Human is headed to consoles in 2027\. Wrong Organ, an independent studio in Stockholm, Sweden, is already working on Carcass Clad, a three-person co-op game from the creators of Mouthwashing.

If the score is part of what stuck with you, the [official Mouthwashing soundtrack](https://store.steampowered.com/app/3276830/?ref=unknowndivide.com) is on Steam too.

## Our call

If you have Game Pass and have not played it, clear an evening on October 29 and play it in one sitting with the lights off. If you already finished it on PC, this is the version to hand to the friend you keep describing it to.

More horror in the queue: our [best horror movies of all time](https://www.unknowndivide.com/best-horror-movies-of-all-time/), the live-action survival horror of [Tenebris Somnia](https://www.unknowndivide.com/tenebris-somnia-out-now-retro-survival-horror-live-action/), and the [Phantom Blade Zero release date](https://www.unknowndivide.com/phantom-blade-zero-release-date-preload-editions/) for something louder.
