Phoebe Bridgers just brought boygenius into A24's Sound Check. The studio posted [a 12 minute session](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2bQHdPU0r0&ref=unknowndivide.com) this morning, filmed at Cherry Lane Theatre in New York and directed by Lance Oppenheim, the filmmaker behind [Primetime](https://a24films.com/films/primetime?ref=unknowndivide.com). Bridgers opens alone with her Primetime song "On Video," then Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker join her for two songs from her latest album, *Lost Weekend*.

## The setlist

- **"On Video"** is the song Bridgers wrote for Primetime, released on A24's [original soundtrack](https://a24music.ffm.to/primetimeoriginalsoundtrack?ref=unknowndivide.com) for the film, which also carries Ari Balouzian's score. Here it is stripped back to Bridgers with Ethan Gruska on piano and effects.
- **"Haunted"**, with boygenius, starts at the 3:38 mark. It is track seven on *Lost Weekend*.
- **"Lost Boys"**, with boygenius, closes the set at 7:07\. It is the second track on the album.

The band around them is small and acoustic. Vixen Jamieson plays upright bass, Connor Style Vance plays mandolin, Lily Belknap plays violin and Yi-Mei Templeman plays cello, with Dacus on vocals and Baker on guitar and vocals. Mike Mogis mixed the audio.

## Why the film tie matters

This is more than a promo clip. Bridgers is in the Primetime cast alongside Robert Pattinson, Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, Matthew Maher and Bokeem Woodbine. A24 sums the film up in one line: in 2006, To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen sets out to make television history. It is now playing in theaters, and Oppenheim shooting the session himself turns it into a companion piece to the film rather than a standard live video.

Sound Check has quietly become one of the better live series running. Earlier sessions at Cherry Lane include [Tame Impala](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kRVr62Ee88&ref=unknowndivide.com), [Blood Orange](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GA0DTBKwgXw&ref=unknowndivide.com), [Model/Actriz](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BO8YMoGBxk&ref=unknowndivide.com) and [Grace Ives](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=327DxdlERfw&ref=unknowndivide.com). ## Lost Weekend on vinyl

*Lost Weekend* came out August 14 on Dead Oceans, 17 tracks deep. The label's [official store](https://secretlystore.com/products/lost-weekend-black-vinyl?ref=unknowndivide.com) lists it as a double LP in a double pocket gatefold jacket with a 20 page full color lyric booklet, at $35.99 on black vinyl. Two color variants sit beside it: [Neptune Winds](https://secretlystore.com/products/lost-weekend-neptune-winds-color-vinyl?ref=unknowndivide.com), dark blue marble with silver glitter, at $40.99, and [Regolith](https://secretlystore.com/products/lost-weekend-regolith-color-vinyl?ref=unknowndivide.com), clear with silver glitter, at $41.99.

If the boygenius half of the session is what got you, the trio's 2023 album [the record on LP](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BSC99HKS?tag=unknowndivi02-20&ref=unknowndivide.com) is the one to own, and Dead Oceans notes it won the trio three Grammys. The band's [the rest 10 inch EP](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CHZ54S2M?tag=unknowndivi02-20&ref=unknowndivide.com) makes a good companion on the shelf.
