[Jason Eisener](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtAmPnyyPgE&ref=unknowndivide.com) has posted *Project Shamrock*, a short Halloween fan film that ties a young Michael Myers to the Silver Shamrock Corporation years before *Halloween* (1978) and *Halloween III: Season of the Witch* (1982). On [X](https://x.com/i/status/2113377102829428903?ref=unknowndivide.com), he describes it as a new Halloween short set in the 1960s, shot on 16mm and 8mm film. The full piece is free on his YouTube channel.

## A lost reel from Halloween 1960

In the [YouTube description](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtAmPnyyPgE&ref=unknowndivide.com), Eisener frames the short as a recently discovered lost film reel with footage dating back to Halloween 1960\. That reel, he writes, contains evidence that a young Michael Myers was once a subject of the Silver Shamrock Corporation's top-secret experiments, conducted under the codename Project Shamrock. A second [X post](https://x.com/i/status/2113318485505802271?ref=unknowndivide.com) repeats that lost-reel synopsis. The pitch is simple: Silver Shamrock from *Halloween III* and Myers from the original *Halloween* share one origin story inside a found-footage package.

## Shot in two days on 16mm and 8mm

Eisener directed, wrote, and edited the short. His credit line also notes *Hobo with a Shotgun* and *Dark Side of the Ring*. Dave Brunt stars as The Janitor. Producers are Jen Yamato and Ian Matheson, with cinematography by Andy Appelle, who is also a co-producer. Katie McQueston handled production design, props, wardrobe, and SFX supervision. Music and sound are by Andrew Gordon Macpherson. Steven Kostanski made the SFX prosthetic head. Eisener says the film was shot over two days on 16mm and 8mm in Dartmouth and Halifax, Nova Scotia, and that it is a not-for-profit fan film.

## Unofficial, free, and not for profit

The upload carries a clear disclaimer. *Project Shamrock* is an unofficial, non-commercial Halloween fan film made for entertainment. Eisener states that the makers do not own the characters or intellectual property associated with the Halloween franchise, that all rights belong to their respective owners, and that the project is not affiliated with or endorsed by the original creators or rights holders. It is available for free and is not intended for commercial use or profit. ## Our call

This one is Surfacing. A free short that braids Myers and Silver Shamrock on real film stock, posted by the filmmaker himself, is the kind of Halloween deep cut worth watching before the feed moves on.
