The Starbucks mystery Bearista glass cup is real, and it has a date. [Starbucks announced today](https://about.starbucks.com/press/2026/mark-your-calendars-starbucks-bearista-glass-cold-cups-are-returning-with-a-twist/?ref=unknowndivide.com), October 26, that a surprise collection of Bearista Glass Cold Cup characters will land in US Starbucks coffeehouses on November 10, sold as the Glass Bearista Cold Cup Surprise Box Edition. Each box holds a mystery glass bear you only see once it is open. The original green hat Bearista returns on December 1\. The search spike started within hours, with "starbucks mystery bearista glass cup" climbing on Google Trends in the US alongside "starbucks red cup day 2026".

## What is dropping and when

- **November 5:** the holiday merchandise collections arrive in coffeehouses and online at the Starbucks Shop, together with the holiday menu and a new Bearista Cake Pop.
- **November 10:** the Glass Bearista Cold Cup Surprise Box Edition, in limited quantities, while supplies last.
- **November 17:** Red Cup Day, plus the Winter Wonderland drinkware collection.
- **December 1:** the original Bearista Glass Cold Cup returns to select coffeehouses, while supplies last.

## The Surprise Box, explained

Starbucks calls the boxed cups the next generation of glass cold cup Bearistas. The official image shows a red Starbucks box with a white bear silhouette and a question mark where the character should be, which tells you the whole game: you buy blind, you open it, you find out who you got. Starbucks says the characters are festive and that more details are coming soon, so the full lineup is still under wraps. Limited quantities plus a blind box format is a recipe for early lines, so plan on going on November 10 rather than later in the week.

## The original comes back December 1

The original Bearista Glass Cold Cup, the bear shaped glass cup in the iconic Starbucks green hat, was a viral sensation when it first launched last year, in Starbucks' own words. It returns to select coffeehouses on December 1, again while supplies last. Select is the key word. Not every store will carry it, so use the [Starbucks store locator](https://www.starbucks.com/store-locator?ref=unknowndivide.com) to find a few nearby options and ask your local baristas about timing.

## The rest of the Bearista haul

The bear goes further back than the glass. Starbucks says the first plush Bearista bears showed up in its coffeehouses in 1997, and this year's [holiday merchandise lineup](https://about.starbucks.com/stories/2026/starbucks-2026-holiday-merchandise-begins-to-arrive-nov-5-heres-whats-coming/?ref=unknowndivide.com) brings back a reimagined Bearista collection on November 5: Bearista adorned drinkware, a collectible plush keychain and coordinated accessories, all in signature Starbucks green.

Collectors have a few other drops to track:

- **Holiday Village, Pike Place edition (November 5):** mugs, ornaments, a snow globe and a ceramic Starbucks coffeehouse modeled on the original Pike Place store in Seattle, where the company started in 1971.
- **Peppermint Mocha (November 5):** a glass holiday tree cold cup, a handled travel tumbler and a ceramic striped espresso cup, with a retro look.
- **Winter Wonderland (November 17):** cool toned drinkware with a quilted light blue cold cup, iridescent water bottles and statement tumblers.

## Red Cup Day is November 17

Per the [Starbucks holiday menu announcement](https://about.starbucks.com/stories/2026/starbucks-holiday-menu-is-coming-to-town-nov-5/?ref=unknowndivide.com), Red Cup Day returns on November 17\. Buy any handcrafted holiday beverage that day and you get a collectible reusable holiday cup, at participating stores while supplies last. The holiday menu itself starts November 5, so the drinks are already on the board by then.

## How to shop it

Most of this is in store only. The Surprise Box and the original Bearista are coffeehouse releases, not online drops, so the store you pick matters. The broader holiday collections also hit the Starbucks Shop online on November 5, which is the easier route for the Village and Peppermint Mocha pieces. Check [Starbucks](https://www.starbucks.com/?ref=unknowndivide.com) for current pricing, since we do not list prices.

## Our call

This one is Surfacing. A blind box glass bear, limited quantities and a second chance at last year's viral original a few weeks later make the Bearista the holiday drinkware drop people will actually line up for. If you want one, November 10 is the day to be early.
