Cheap tech gifts have a bad reputation, and mostly they deserve it. The under-$100 shelf is where gadget guides dump phone stands, novelty speakers and off-brand earbuds that die by February. The assumption is that a small budget means settling for something disposable. It does not. Some of the most useful hardware anyone owns costs less than a nice dinner, because it does one ordinary job very well and has been refined through several generations to get there.

Every pick below comes in under $100 at the time of writing, from a brand with a track record, and solves a real, daily problem: a dead phone, a dead laptop, lost keys, a desk that needs a better mouse. A couple are simply fun. None of them need a subscription.

## Anker Nano Power Bank: the one that always has a cable

Every power bank works until you realize you forgot the cable. Anker's Nano Power Bank solves that by building a USB-C cable into the body, so the battery and the cable can never be separated. It holds 10,000mAh, enough to refill most phones about twice, and pushes 30W, which is enough to top up a tablet or a small laptop. It is a boring object in the best way: small, well made and always in the bag when needed. Around $50.

## UGREEN Nexode 65W: the charger that replaces three

Most people still travel with a separate brick for each device. UGREEN's Nexode 65W uses gallium nitride to fit enough power for a laptop into a block not much bigger than a phone charger, with two USB-C ports and one USB-A. Plug in a MacBook Air, a phone and a pair of earbuds at once and it splits the power sensibly. It is the gift that clears a drawer of old chargers. Around $28.

## Apple AirTag (2nd generation): for the person who loses things

![Apple AirTag in a tan leather key ring holder beside a set of keys and a toy tractor on a wooden table](https://storage.ghost.io/c/25/41/254117cc-2631-4fb7-9f78-fa31eac12f1a/content/images/2026/10/tech-gifts-under-100-apple-airtag-1.webp)

Apple updated the AirTag in January 2026 with a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip, which extends the range of Precision Finding by up to 50 percent, and a speaker Apple says is 50 percent louder. It still uses a coin cell battery you can replace yourself, and it still works through the enormous Find My network of nearby Apple devices. For anyone with an iPhone who misplaces keys, bags or luggage, it is the most useful small gift in tech. A single tag is around $24, and the [four-pack](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GJTXVN9Z?tag=unknowndivi02-20&ref=unknowndivide.com) is around $89.

## Logitech MX Anywhere 3S: the mouse for a laptop bag

![Graphite Logitech MX Anywhere 3 compact wireless mouse on a yellow desk surface](https://storage.ghost.io/c/25/41/254117cc-2631-4fb7-9f78-fa31eac12f1a/content/images/2026/10/tech-gifts-under-100-logitech-mx-anywhere-3s-1.webp)

Logitech's full-size MX Master gets the attention, but the smaller MX Anywhere 3S is the better gift because it goes everywhere. Its sensor tracks on glass, the clicks are quiet enough for a library, and the metal MagSpeed wheel spins freely through long documents. It pairs with three devices over Bluetooth and charges over USB-C. Anyone still working on a trackpad, or on the mouse that came free with a desktop, will feel the difference immediately. Around $90.

## Keychron C3 Pro: the first mechanical keyboard

Mechanical keyboards are a rabbit hole, and the C3 Pro is the cheapest good way in. It is a wired tenkeyless board with hot-swappable switches, so the recipient can change the feel later without soldering, and it supports QMK and VIA, the open firmware that lets every key be remapped. The current version polls at 8,000Hz, a spec that matters mostly to gamers but shows how much keyboard this price now buys. Our guide to [getting into mechanical keyboards](https://www.unknowndivide.com/how-to-get-into-mechanical-keyboards/) explains where to go next. Around $55.

## CMF Buds Pro 2: the earbuds that punch up

CMF is the budget label from Nothing, and the Buds Pro 2 are the clearest example of what it does well: features from much more expensive earbuds at a fraction of the price. They have hybrid noise cancellation, support for the higher-quality LDAC Bluetooth codec on Android, and a small physical dial on the charging case for volume and playback, which is more fun than it sounds. They are not AirPods Pro, and they do not try to be. As a gift for a teenager or a spare gym pair, they are hard to beat. We also liked the open-ear [CMF Clip Pro](https://www.unknowndivide.com/cmf-clip-pro/). Around $35.

## Soundcore Motion 300: the speaker

Small Bluetooth speakers usually trade sound for toughness. Anker's Soundcore Motion 300 is the exception at this price: 30W of stereo sound, support for the LDAC codec, and an IPX7 rating that survives a dunk in the pool. It has a proper EQ in the app and a strap for hanging it in a shower or off a bag. It will not replace real speakers, but it sounds fuller than anything else this size we would recommend. Around $80.

## Fujifilm Instax Mini 12: the one that prints

The most contrarian tech gift is one that refuses to upload anything. The Instax Mini 12 sets exposure automatically, turns on with a twist of the lens, and spits out a credit-card-sized print in seconds. The photos are soft and imperfect, and that is the appeal: nobody edits them, everybody keeps them. Film is the ongoing cost, so add a pack or two. Around $83.

## Elgato Stream Deck Neo: the desk shortcut

Elgato built the Stream Deck for streamers, and then everyone else discovered it. The Neo is the most affordable version, with eight customizable LCD keys and two touch points, and it can launch apps, control music, mute a call, trigger shortcuts in editing software or run a smart home scene. It sounds like a niche accessory until someone uses it for a week, at which point it becomes the most-pressed thing on the desk. Around $79.

## 8BitDo Ultimate 2C: the controller

![Pink 8BitDo Ultimate 2C wireless controller next to a grey USB receiver on a green cutting mat](https://storage.ghost.io/c/25/41/254117cc-2631-4fb7-9f78-fa31eac12f1a/content/images/2026/10/tech-gifts-under-100-8bitdo-ultimate-2c-1.webp)

8BitDo started out making retro-style controllers and now makes some of the best-value gamepads available. The Ultimate 2C costs a fraction of a first-party controller and uses Hall effect joysticks and triggers, which rely on magnets instead of the physical contacts that wear out and cause drift. It connects wirelessly to Windows PCs and Android devices with a 1,000Hz polling rate, and the back buttons can be remapped. For anyone gaming on a PC, a [handheld](https://www.unknowndivide.com/best-handheld-game-consoles-for-indie-games/) or a phone, it is the cheapest worthwhile upgrade. Around $30.

## Spend less, buy better

The pattern here is that the best cheap tech is rarely the newest. It is the third or fourth version of something a company has refined until it simply works. Skip the gadgets that only exist to be gifts, and pick the thing the recipient will reach for every day. If your budget stretches, our guides to [repairable tech](https://www.unknowndivide.com/best-repairable-tech-gadgets-you-can-fix-yourself/) and [minimalist phones](https://www.unknowndivide.com/best-minimalist-phones/) cover bigger ideas.

Specifications are on the makers' own pages for the [AirTag](https://www.apple.com/airtag/?ref=unknowndivide.com), the [MX Anywhere 3S](https://www.logitech.com/en-us/products/mice/mx-anywhere-3s.html?ref=unknowndivide.com), the [Stream Deck Neo](https://www.elgato.com/us/en/p/stream-deck-neo?ref=unknowndivide.com) and the [Keychron range](https://www.keychron.com/?ref=unknowndivide.com).
