White Hills just handed their archive a vinyl body. [Collected Consciousness](https://whitehills.bandcamp.com/album/collected-consciousness?ref=unknowndivide.com) arrives October 30, 2026 on [Argonauta Records](https://www.argonautarecords.com/?ref=unknowndivide.com) as a deluxe LP, two continuous sides rebuilt from long out-of-print tour-only CDrs that fans have been asking to hear on wax for years.

## Archive into two phases

This is not a straight reissue. Argonauta's announcement frames the album as a two-part journey. Each vinyl side is one immersive composition, Phase One and Phase Two, collaged from alternative mixes of those tour-only discs. The material was reimagined and stitched so the old sessions move like new, continuous pieces rather than a pile of leftovers.

The Bandcamp notes point to Dieter Dierks and his Cosmic Jokers sessions as the spirit guide: spontaneous recomposition, radical edits, past recordings turned fluid. That fits White Hills, a New York duo with a catalog that already runs through Thrill Jockey, Rocket Recordings, Fuzz Club and their own Heads On Fire imprint.

Dave W. puts the fan pressure plainly in the album notes: "We're extremely excited to be partnering with Argonauta Records for the release of Collected Consciousness. Fans have been bugging us for years to do vinyl releases of our long out-of-print Tour Only CDr albums. Now thanks to Argonauta their dream and ours is coming true."

## Why it matters

White Hills have spent years in the neo-psychedelic, art-rock and post-punk lane, the kind of band that turns a room into a drone without losing the punk edge. Their music also reached a wider audience through Jim Jarmusch's Only Lovers Left Alive. Collected Consciousness does not chase that spotlight. It digs into the private stock and makes it public on a format that can hold a long side.

That archive move also explains the Argonauta partnership. The label is treating the record as a landmark signing rather than a one-off dump of leftovers, and the band is treating the vinyl as the form those CDr sessions always wanted. Two phases, two sides, no filler tracklist to skim.

## Where to preorder

Preorders run through the band's [Bandcamp page](https://whitehills.bandcamp.com/album/collected-consciousness?ref=unknowndivide.com) and the colored LP listing in the [Argonauta shop](https://shop.argonautarecords.com/vinyl/885-white-hills-collected-consciousness-colored-lp.html?ref=unknowndivide.com). Check both for formats and stock ahead of the October 30 street date.

## Our call

This one is Surfacing. Tour-only CDrs finally get a proper vinyl life, remixed into two long phases instead of a scrapbook, on a label that knows how to treat underground heaviness with care. If you already live in White Hills' catalog, this is the deep cut made permanent.
