Most custom consoles stop at a new color. The Xbox Series X-BITE looks like something you would find mounted in a Florida roadside bar, except the thing in its stomach still runs games.

More than five feet from snout to tail, this one-off puts a working Series X inside a fabricated alligator. A controller with bite marks sits between its jaws. The Xbox Nexus glows through its body, and even the eyes have been recruited: green irises, with the familiar X worked into the pupils.

The best part is that the joke reads before the logo does. You see an alligator on a wooden mount, then notice what it swallowed. It is an absurd object with a surprisingly convincing surface, not a standard console wearing a novelty sleeve.

## Xbox Series X-BITE is creature work, not an alligator-skin wrap

There is no real alligator skin here. X-BITE is the name of the custom Xbox, not the maker. The creature was made by John Nolan Studio using 3D modeling, sculpting and fabrication. Xbox says no actual alligators were used or harmed.

That distinction changes what you are looking at. This is closer to a film prop containing a console than an exotic finish applied to gaming hardware. The scales, folds and tooth-lined mouth are doing the work. The branded eye is a tiny visual punchline inside a much larger piece of creature fabrication.

[John Nolan Studio's own portfolio](https://www.johnnolanstudio.com/?ref=unknowndivide.com) spans animatronics and creature effects for film, television, live performance and private commissions. Its projects include Mary Poppins Returns and the Jurassic World Dominion prologue. That background makes sense here: getting a creature to hold your attention in close-up is a different discipline from designing a printed console shell.

Xbox credits the studio with modeling, sculpting and fabricating X-BITE. It does not describe a moving animatronic, so do not expect this alligator to start walking across the cabinet.

## Xbox Series X-BITE: our call

**Our call: a great piece of creature sculpture, not a sensible console upgrade.** The working hardware is the twist, but the craft is the reason to look twice. Turning an anonymous black tower into a ridiculous trophy animal gives it a character that another special-edition colorway cannot.

There is a practical catch worth keeping in view. Xbox calls it playable, but also says it is best treated as a display piece. Only one exists. This is not a new retail model or an upgrade to the Series X's performance.

Xbox is giving it away through an official sweepstakes. Follow the designated entry instructions and read the eligibility requirements and full terms before entering. The closing time is November 11 at 1:59 a.m. CST.
