The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Mr. Aonuma Gameplay Demonstration. Video: Nintendo of America ## What is actually new This is not a quick touch up. Nintendo says the game is built from the ground up for Nintendo Switch 2, and the story that first debuted on the Nintendo 64 now comes with completely overhauled visuals, characters with voiced dialogue and a lot more to say, expanded cutscenes, symphonic orchestral music, and reworked camera and movement controls. Link can now jump and dash too, a big change from the Nintendo 64 original. The coolest detail is the ocarina itself. You can play Link's in-game ocarina by humming, or by playing your own instrument, into the Nintendo Switch 2 system microphone. The story is the one you remember: Ganondorf wants the Triforce from the Sacred Realm, and young Link sets out with his fairy companion, Navi, through deadly dungeons and across two different eras to stop him. Nintendo calls it an excellent entry point for anyone new to the series, and it works as a perfect reason to replay for everyone else. ## The extras Nintendo has confirmed - **amiibo support.** Tap any existing Legend of Zelda series [amiibo](https://www.nintendo.com/us/amiibo/?ref=unknowndivide.com) figure for in-game extras. New Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo are coming in 2027, and they unlock in-game masks with a retro graphical style. - **ZELDA NOTES.** A game-specific service inside the Nintendo Switch App on your phone tracks your daily accomplishments, challenges you to find in-game locations from images, and even lets you play an ocarina on your smart device. - **Display and sound.** High Dynamic Range (HDR) output and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) on compatible TVs, plus surround sound, in TV, tabletop and handheld modes. ## The Zelda Nintendo Switch 2 to pair with it A week before the game, on October 29, Nintendo releases the [Nintendo Switch 2, The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition](https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/nintendo-switch-2-the-legend-of-zelda-40th-anniversary-edition-121642/?ref=unknowndivide.com). It comes with a black and gold dock with a golden Triforce on the front, series patterns on the back of the system and dock, and green and gold Joy-Con 2 controllers. The game is not included. When we checked Nintendo's official store this morning, the system was listed as out of stock, with a Find retailers option, so move fast if you want one. ## Where to pre-order - **Physical.** Nintendo's store has the [physical edition](https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/the-legend-of-zelda-ocarina-of-time-125697/?ref=unknowndivide.com) up for pre-order, or reserve the [Ocarina of Time physical edition for Nintendo Switch 2](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0HJ6F7L6T?tag=unknowndivi02-20&ref=unknowndivide.com). - **Digital.** Buy it straight from [Nintendo's digital listing](https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/the-legend-of-zelda-ocarina-of-time-switch-2/?ref=unknowndivide.com), or pick up the [Ocarina of Time digital code](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0HJ6JP36P?tag=unknowndivi02-20&ref=unknowndivide.com). - **Storage.** Nintendo estimates the game file at 27 gigabytes (GB).
