Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Unknowndivide ("Unknowndivide," "we," "us," "our"), operated by Labile Media Group, collects, uses, and shares information when you visit unknowndivide.com (the "Site"), read our newsletter, or contact us.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Email address, when you subscribe to the newsletter or create a free member account.
  • Name, email address, and message content, when you contact us.
  • For any paid membership, our payment processor handles your card details; we only receive your membership status.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and browser details (browser type, operating system, screen size).
  • Usage data (pages viewed, time on page, referring URL, links clicked).
  • IP address and the approximate location derived from it.
  • Cookie and similar identifiers used for site functions, analytics, and advertising.
  • For signed-in members, basic account activity such as sign-ins and newsletter opens and clicks.

We do not knowingly collect "sensitive personal information" as defined by US state laws.

2. How we use information

  • To run the Site, member accounts, and the newsletter, and to reply to you.
  • To measure and improve the Site and our content.
  • To show and measure advertising, including interest-based advertising.
  • To keep the Site secure and prevent abuse.
  • To meet legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.

We do not make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

3. Cookies and your choices

We use three kinds of cookies and similar technologies:

  • Essential: required for the Site to work, such as keeping members signed in. These are always on.
  • Analytics: help us understand how the Site is used (for example, Google Analytics).
  • Advertising: set by us or partners such as Google to show and measure ads.

You can change your preferences any time with the Cookie Settings link in the footer. If you switch Advertising off, we ask Google to show you non-personalized ads only. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland are shown Google's consent message instead, and their choices there control advertising cookies. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser; some features may stop working.

Global Privacy Control (GPC). If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising, and we serve non-personalized ads. There is no common standard for "Do Not Track," so we don't respond to that signal.

4. Advertising (Google AdSense)

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site and other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings. You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info and optout.networkadvertising.org.

5. Affiliate links and sponsored content

Some links on the Site are affiliate links. If you buy through them we may earn a commission at no cost to you, and the retailer or affiliate network may set a cookie to credit the sale. As an Amazon Associate, Unknowndivide earns from qualifying purchases. Sponsored content is always labeled, and sponsors don't receive your personal information from us. 6. How we share information

We do not sell personal information for money. We share it only with:

  • Service providers that work for us, such as hosting and publishing (Ghost), email delivery, payment processing, and analytics, and only to provide their services.
  • Advertising partners, as described above. Under some US state laws, this may count as "selling" or "sharing" personal information or "targeted advertising." You can opt out (see Section 9).
  • Legal and safety recipients, when required by law or needed to protect rights and safety.
  • A buyer or successor, if the Site is part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, under protections at least as strong as this policy.

The Site links to other websites and embeds content such as YouTube videos and Bandcamp players. Those services may collect data about you under their own policies, even if you don't interact with the embed.

8. Data retention and security

  • Newsletter and member data: kept until you unsubscribe or delete your account, then removed from active systems within a reasonable period.
  • Contact messages: kept as long as needed to handle your request and for our records, generally no longer than 24 months.
  • Server and security logs: kept for a short period as set by our hosting provider.
  • Analytics and advertising data: kept according to the provider's retention settings.

We use HTTPS and reputable providers to protect information. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will notify you as the law requires.

9. Your US state privacy rights

Depending on where you live (including California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Tennessee, and other states with privacy laws), you may have the right to:

  • Know / access the personal information we have about you and how we use and disclose it;
  • Delete personal information we hold about you;
  • Correct inaccurate personal information;
  • Get a copy of your information in a portable format;
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, of targeted advertising, and of profiling;
  • Not be discriminated against for using these rights.

California details (CCPA/CPRA). In the past 12 months we collected: identifiers (such as email and IP address), internet or other network activity, approximate geolocation, and inferences used for advertising. Sources: you and your device. Purposes: those in Section 2. We disclosed these categories to service providers and advertising partners; identifiers, network activity, and inferences may have been "shared" for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell or share information of consumers we know are under 16.

How to opt out. Use the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link in the footer, turn off Advertising in Cookie Settings, or enable Global Privacy Control in your browser. Opt-outs made through the footer links apply to the browser and device you use.

How to make other requests. Email unknowndivide@protonmail.com or use our contact page. We will verify your request by confirming control of the email address associated with your information and will respond within 45 days (we may extend once by 45 days where allowed). You may use an authorized agent, who must show your written permission. If we deny your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision with the word "Appeal"; we will answer within the period your state's law requires. If your appeal is denied, you may contact your state attorney general.

10. Visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland

Labile Media Group is the data controller. We rely on: consent (newsletter, member accounts, non-essential cookies and personalized ads), legitimate interests (running, securing, and measuring the Site), contract (providing a membership you sign up for), and legal obligation. You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing. You can complain to your local data protection authority. When data is transferred outside your region, we rely on safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions. We respond to requests within one month.

11. Children

The Site is meant for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, email unknowndivide@protonmail.com and we will delete it.

12. Changes

We may update this policy. We will change the effective date above and, for material changes, notify members by email or post a notice on the Site.
