Cyberpunk Update 2.5 arrives on Thursday, October 22, and CD PROJEKT RED announced it today alongside the premiere of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, its new anime with the Japanese animation studio TRIGGER. The studio calls it the Edgerunners 2 Update. It is a free update for Cyberpunk 2077 on personal computers (PC), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with the Nintendo Switch 2 version to follow shortly. All ten episodes of the show are streaming now.
What is in Update 2.5
Full patch notes are not out yet. What CD PROJEKT RED has confirmed so far: content inspired by Edgerunners 2, cyberware customization (cyberware being the body implants that shape how your character plays), a new dual-wielding playstyle, and a range of other new items and features. The studio will walk through it in a special episode of REDstreams, its own broadcast, on Wednesday, October 21 at 11 AM Eastern (5 PM Central European Summer Time) on Twitch, YouTube and Steam. The official patch notes go up the same day, according to the official Cyberpunk 2077 news post.

The show
Edgerunners 2 is a standalone, ten-episode series set in Night City, four years after the first Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Kai Ikarashi directs, Kanno Ichigo is lead character designer, and the returning team includes Masahiko Otsuka and Hugo Award winner Bartosz Sztybor, who serves as showrunner, story writer and producer. CD PROJEKT RED is the studio behind Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher games. TRIGGER is known for Little Witch Academia, Delicious in Dungeon, Promare and the Gridman Universe films.
The official Edgerunners 2 site introduces a new cast. Weak, once known as King, is a veteran edgerunner (Night City's word for a mercenary who takes dangerous jobs) who now has to live without chrome, the cybernetic implants he built his name on. D is a Snake Nation netrunner, a hacker, hunting the killer who wiped out his clan. Roman Carax is a young cinephile chasing real stories in a city that has abandoned film for braindance, the recorded memories people play back like movies. Talia was raised in corporate towers and hardened inside the Maelstrom gang, and her mother Avida, a former jazz singer and Weak's old flame, is now married to a Kang Tao executive. The voices include Kentaro Tone as Weak, Koki Uchiyama as D, Momoka Terasawa as Roman, Akari Kito as Talia and Akemi Okamura as Avida.
