Lorenzo Bracaloni has never been one to think small, and his new Fallen release proves it. Stars are Crashing, Home are Burning, Hearts are Changing - Notes from a Distant World/Detuned Lullabies for the Old Planet came out September 11 on Touched Music, the British charity label. The title is long because the record is really two new albums in one package: 15 tracks and more than an hour and 40 minutes of ambient electronic music, released together as a double album.

Who Fallen is

Fallen is the long-running solo project of Bracaloni, an Italian musician who also records as The Child of A Creek. On his own Bandcamp he counts 41 records so far, spread across labels in Italy, Japan, Iceland, Bulgaria and the Netherlands, and a list of past stage partners that includes Carla Bozulich, Marissa Nadler and Julia Kent. This year alone he has already put out Postcards from Nowhere and faint ridges, broken promises before this double set landed.

Two albums, one title

In his release note, Bracaloni describes it as a special release with two new albums. The first, Stars are Crashing, Homes are Burning, Hearts are Changing: Notes from a Distant World, runs ten tracks and about 52 minutes:

  1. Rusted Gardens
  2. Violent Winds
  3. Stars Are Crashing
  4. Tiny Hopes
  5. Wide Red Skies
  6. Homes Are Burning
  7. The Vanishing
  8. Useless, Broken
  9. Hearts are Changing
  10. Notes from a Distant World

The second, Detuned Lullabies for the Old Planet, is five long pieces, each between nine and 11 minutes:

  1. Chasing Mechanical Butterflies
  2. Under a Shameless Angry Sun
  3. We are Drifting Starships
  4. From Dry Iron Valleys to Utopian Realms
  5. Direction Home (Ruins Pathway)

Bracaloni played and processed everything himself: piano, electric piano, organ, acoustic and electric guitars, bass, synthesizers, voice and field recordings. The label tags it ambient, electronica, braindance and IDM (intelligent dance music). One track carries extra weight. He wrote "The Vanishing" right after the death of his friend Árni Grétar in January 2025, and calls the loss huge in his note. "Stars Are Crashing," the third track, is the one the label put front and center on its page.

Credits and formats

Mastering is by exm, an act with several releases of its own on Touched, and the art and layout are by Mattia Travaglini. The cover is a dense, cube-like wireframe structure in black and grey, and the inside panels build the same structure into a city. The release carries the catalog number TOMU07.

On Touched's Bandcamp it comes two ways: a digital album with high-quality downloads, including FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec), and a limited edition double compact disc (CD) in a six-panel digipak, which also includes the download. You can also buy the label's entire digital discography as a bundle from the same page.

Why the label matters

Touched is not a typical label. It grew out of a fundraiser that Martin Boulton started in November 2013 for Macmillan Cancer Support, and that JustGiving page is still linked from the label's Bandcamp. The early compilations stated that all proceeds went to Macmillan, and today the label describes itself as a collective that curates boundary-pushing electronic music while raising funds for charities. Its catalog now runs past 140 releases, with names like Autechre and B12 alongside newer artists. Buying this record supports that mission, and Bracaloni thanks Boulton by name in his credits.
