GoPro has launched Close-Up Filters made with PolarPro for the MISSION 1 and MISSION 1 PRO cinema cameras. The transparent diopters slide over the lens or a neutral density (ND) filter and add subject separation and background blur with static focus, no adjustment required. They are available now globally on GoPro.com.
What the filters do
According to GoPro's October 22 announcement from San Mateo, the filters use optical-grade multi-coated glass meant to keep sharpness and color accuracy. Creators pick a strength and shoot. A standalone Close-Up Filter uses a PolarPro +0.5 diopter for everyday close-ups, vlog-style shots and travel footage. GoPro describes that strength as a balance between cinematic and natural, with a softened background that still feels intentional. The focus range begins at about 50 centimeters with a far focus distance of about 150 centimeters, so the camera stays usable for talking-head and lifestyle framing without becoming a macro-only tool.
A three-filter Close-Up Filter Set adds +0.5, +1 and +2 strengths in a travel case. Stronger diopters tighten the focus window and deepen the blur: +1 runs about 45 to 90 centimeters, and +2 runs about 30 to 50 centimeters. Unused filters stay in the case between shots. The set is the clearer buy if you already know you want more than a light everyday look, while the standalone +0.5 is the simplest entry for people who just want a touch of separation on MISSION 1 footage.
Which cameras they fit
GoPro lists compatibility with MISSION 1 and MISSION 1 PRO, plus the MISSION 1 PRO Grip Edition, Creator Edition and Ultimate Creator Edition. The filters slide over the camera lens or an ND filter already on the camera, which keeps the workflow close to how many creators already shoot. They are backed by PolarPro's Adventure Assurance. GoPro Premium and Premium+ subscribers get a subscriber discount on the filters in the official store, alongside the usual cloud and highlight perks of those plans.
The MISSION 1 Series launched earlier in 2026 as GoPro's compact cinema line, and the company says the cameras have already collected a run of industry awards. Close-up diopters are a logical accessory chapter: depth of field has been the missing cinematic trick on many compact cameras, and a slide-on glass solution is easier to pack than a whole new lens kit.
