Moooi just widened the ceiling. The Dutch house is launching three lighting moves at once: a first-ever Architectural Lighting system with Intra lighting, Urchina Light by Studio Roderick Vos, and Push Light by Paul Cocksedge. Hospitality rooms are the stated target, but the forms travel anywhere a ceiling needs character.
Moooi Architectural Lighting: Powerline and the Potoos
Designed by Marcel Wanders with Intra lighting, the Architectural Lighting debut is Powerline, a 48V track inspired by electric transmission towers. Power runs through both the upper and lower sides of the track. Straight runs and 90-degree corners let the line keep going across a room instead of stopping at a single pendant point.
Two fixtures perch on that line like birds on a wire: the Tipsy Potoo spotlight and the Fat Potoo downlight. Official copy says selected decorative Moooi luminaires, including Urchina Light and Push Light, can also join the same system, so architectural and decorative pieces share one continuous track language.
Urchina Light and Push Light
Urchina Light by Studio Roderick Vos takes its geometry from sea urchins. Four sizes (90, 140, 180 and 300) send slender carbon rods outward into a floating constellation that softens with gravity as the piece grows. By day it reads as sculpture. By night a hidden downlight throws a focused glow while an uplight softens the ceiling.
Push Light by Paul Cocksedge is the quieter surprise: a curved shade pushed through a metal ring until the balance holds. Shade, ring and light are the whole vocabulary. The source stays hidden and the glow reflects off the shade into the room, which is why the piece feels atmospheric instead of spotlight-hard.
See the full launch on the Moooi press page, browse the wider catalog from moooi.com, open the press area for kits, and check partner context at Intra lighting. Show dates on the press note include EquipHotel Paris, BDNY New York and LiGHT Expo London if you want to see the track in person.
Marcel Wanders will speak at BDNY about the architectural chapter, which is useful context if you want the designer's own framing after you study the press renders. EquipHotel in Paris already put the work in front of hospitality buyers earlier this month, and LiGHT Expo London follows later in November for the UK trade crowd.
Intra lighting brings the engineering side: architectural luminaires and energy-efficient interior systems from a Slovenia-based manufacturer with plants across the region. That partnership is what lets Moooi talk about a real 48V track instead of only decorative suspensions. Urchina's carbon-rod constellation and Push Light's reflected glow then plug back into the same story as expressive companions rather than separate product islands.
Why it matters
This one is Surfacing. A decorative house shipping a real architectural track with Intra lighting is a bigger leap than another pendant, and pairing it with Vos and Cocksedge keeps the weird Moooi DNA intact. Put it beside Modular Lighting Instruments' alabaster collection, the soft modern sofa in Bonaldo Grant, and the textile glow of Pooky x Samuel and Sons.
