Most sneakers spend their lives trying to look new. The PUMA x JiyongKim CELL Geo starts out looking like it has already lived a few years, and that is the whole point. The Seoul designer has taken one of PUMA's most futuristic running shapes and treated it like a garment left out in the weather. It launches today, November 7.

Who is JiyongKim

JiyongKim is a Korean menswear designer whose label is built around time doing the work. His best known technique is sun bleaching: fabric is left to fade naturally in daylight, so color drifts unevenly and every piece comes out a little different. Stains, softened edges and textures shaped by the elements are part of the vocabulary too. It is slow fashion in the most literal sense, and it has made his name with people who like clothes that look better the longer you own them. Have a look at his work on the JiyongKim site.

What makes the PUMA x JiyongKim CELL Geo different

PUMA says the collaboration reworks the CELL Geo's sculpted shape with aged fabrics, distressed detailing, frayed laces and unusual surface treatments. Each element is meant to look like the marks and imperfections that build up on a thing over years of use. The contrast is the fun part. Underneath the worn surfaces the shoe is still a piece of engineering, with the CELL Geo's signature decoupled CELL heel unit, fluid cut lines along the side and semi-shrouded laces that keep the profile streamlined.

The campaign shots show off-white pairs with dusty, smudged uppers and soft, frayed seams, worn with dark tailoring and heavy socks. On PUMA's own store the shoe is listed as the CELL GEO 1 Jiyong Kim in Warm White and Desert Dust, described as a washed desert look.

PUMA x JiyongKim release date and where to buy

The CELL Geo launches on November 7, 2026, at PUMA.com, PUMA flagship stores and selected PUMA stockists, as well as through JiyongKim's online store and his flagship in Seoul. Check PUMA's JiyongKim collaboration page for availability in your region.

There is a second colorway to know about. A Black version is exclusive to JiyongKim and will be available only in limited quantities, so that is the pair to watch if you want the rarer one. Japan gets its own date: the collaboration lands there exclusively at GR8 on November 14, with a dedicated pop up to mark it.

Why it matters

This one is Surfacing. Pre-distressed sneakers are nothing new, but most of them fake it with a paint job. JiyongKim's entire practice is about real time and real light, which makes him one of the few designers who has earned the right to age a shoe on purpose.
