The Stella McCartney Yoshitomo Nara collection is back for a third round. Stella McCartney has posted a first look at A Rock'n'Roll Forest, a new limited-edition capsule built around the Japanese artist's wide-eyed children and animals, and it goes on sale November 11, 2026. The house describes it as a meeting point of fashion, art and music seen "through a rebellious, rock'n'roll lens," which is about as close to a Nara mission statement as a brand can get.

This is not a one-off licensing deal. Nara's first-ever fashion collaboration was the Yoshitomo Nara x Stella McCartney capsule for Spring Summer 2021, and the partnership has run on and off ever since. A Rock'n'Roll Forest is the third limited-edition chapter.

What's in the Stella McCartney Yoshitomo Nara collection

According to the official first-look page, the capsule covers ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes and accessories, and it is "designed to be worn and styled by everyone." The materials follow the house rules: artisan knitwear in responsibly sourced wool, organic cotton jersey separates, handcrafted vegan bags and graphic printed trainers.

The campaign images show where the artwork lands. One heavy knit sweater is basically a Nara portrait, a big-headed child with one eye half shut, worked into the yarn across the whole front. A green crewneck carries one of his scratchy line drawings of a girl with both names stitched underneath. A black hoodie and a dark jacket each put a small figure seated on a stool across the back. There is a varsity jacket with dark sleeves and patches, a tan bomber with sketched drawings, a long scarf covered in his drawings, a canvas tote and a pair of low trainers with striped sides and a little charm hanging from the laces.

Stella McCartney says the characters are paired with "unexpected textures, tactile finishes and considered material choices," and that the work brings "a sense of youthful defiance, balancing innocence with an irreverent spirit." That tension, sweet faces with a sharp edge, is the whole point of Nara.

Who is Yoshitomo Nara

Stella McCartney's own artist profile fills in the background. Nara was born in 1959 in Hirosaki, in Aomori Prefecture in northern Japan, and grew up in a rural community. He first heard Western music through the Far East Network, an American military radio station, and later studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, the art academy in Germany, in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

He is best known for pastel, big-eyed children and animals that look cute until you notice the knives and the glare. After the 2011 earthquake and tsunami hit the region where he grew up, he stopped painting for a time and worked on large clay sculptures by hand before returning to the canvas. Music has been part of the work from the start, which is why a rock'n'roll framing fits him better than most artist collaborations.

The earlier Nara x Stella McCartney drops

The second chapter arrived in late 2022 as a unisex capsule after Nara's art appeared in the Summer 2023 runway show at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. That drop leaned on slogans such as "STOP THE BOMBS" and "DON'T WASTE ANOTHER DAY," and put his works Untitled, Twins I and II and Lonesome Puppy on organic cotton totes. A kids capsule followed in 2023, the house's first children's clothing collaboration. In that capsule's story Nara said, "When I was young, I was lonely. Music and animals were a comfort."

Stella McCartney x Yoshitomo Nara release date and where to buy

A Rock'n'Roll Forest goes on sale November 11, 2026, on the official Stella McCartney site and at select Stella McCartney boutiques worldwide. The house has not posted prices or a full product list yet, so check the official collection page on launch day, and watch the official Stella McCartney Instagram for the full lookbook. Past Nara pieces have been limited runs, so the knitwear is the part most likely to go fast.
