Safety pins, mudlarked treasure and a punk DIY streak are headed to Tokyo. SOPH. is marking the 27th anniversary of its flagship SOPH. TOKYO with a uniform experiment capsule built around the late Judy Blame, the stylist, jewelry designer and art director whose work bent fashion's rules for decades. The collection lands Monday, November 2, 2026.
The project was made in partnership with Trust Judy Blame, the registered charity set up after his death by close friends and family to preserve his life, work and legacy.
Who Judy Blame was
SOPH. tells the story well in its release. Blame came up on the streets of Manchester and London during the punk years of the 1970s and 1980s, then styled and directed shoots for i-D and THE FACE, sometimes stepping in front of the camera himself. In Manchester he went to jumble sales with Peter Saville and Malcolm Garrett, cutting up secondhand clothes and pinning them back together.
The safety pin became his signature from around 1977. Back in London he worked the cloakroom at the club Heaven and fell in with Derek Jarman, Boy George, Antony Price and John Moore. With them he started mudlarking on the Thames, pulling old coins, buttons, bones and scraps of metal out of the mud and turning them into jewelry. One line from Blame sums up the whole approach: he did not see a diamond as any better than a safety pin. To him, both were just objects and shapes.
What is in the capsule
uniform experiment, the experimental menswear label SOPH. started in 2008 with Hiroshi Fujiwara of fragment design, takes two of those ideas and runs with them. The safety pin shows up big on the front of a crewneck and gets collaged through a lot of the graphics. The jewelry pieces from the Thames get printed onto everyday staples like a flight jacket, a hoodie and tees, so the work reads as real clothing rather than costume.
Eleven pieces make up the drop:
- Collective Cross Flight Jacket
- Richest Dreams Coach Jacket
- Jewellery Jacquard Knit
- Jewellery Printed Shirt
- Collective Cross Sweat Hoodie
- Stay Safe Crewneck Sweat
- Collective Cross L/S Tee
- Richest Dreams L/S Tee
- Stay Safe Tee
- uniform experiment Logo Tee
- Graphic Tin Badges Set
The flight jacket is the standout. Its back carries a tall cross stacked from Blame style charms, a full totem of found objects across black nylon. The coach jacket answers with a loose cluster of oversized safety pins under a cut and paste Your Richest Dreams slogan.

Our call
This one is Surfacing. It is a respectful tribute with a real charity partner, built by a label that knows how to put a big idea on a simple garment. If you have been waiting for a collaboration that treats punk history as more than a logo, this is it.
