The Witchbrook release date is finally locked. Chucklefish has set its magic school life-sim for January 28, 2027, and it is landing everywhere at once: personal computers (PC) through Steam, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, and now PlayStation 5 on day one. If you have been waiting on a cozy game with a proper witchy streak, this is the one to wishlist now.
The date arrived with a brand new trailer during Nintendo's Indie World showcase, and the studio followed it with a release date dev blog on the official site that fills in the details.
What Witchbrook is
You enroll as a witch in training at Witchbrook College, in the seaside town of Mossport. Classes come with assignments in Alchemy, Potions, Astrology, Rituals, Demon Hunting and Tarot, and you earn merits, sit exams and unlock new spells on the road to graduation. To fund your studies you run your own witch business, crafting wares and delivering orders by moped until you earn your broom license.
Outside class there are covenmates to befriend or date, a woodland cottage to renovate, a herb garden to plant, a Sunday market stall and seasons that change what the town needs. You can play solo or bring up to three friends in online co-op. Chucklefish developed it with co-development support from Robotality, all in handcrafted pixel art.
What the new trailer shows
Chucklefish says sharp eyes will catch faces and features that had not been shown before:
- Witchbrook College's ghostly Chancellor, nicknamed The Deadmaster by students
- The spellcasting mechanic and some new spells
- Studying and the knowledge system
- Potion making and tarot
- Magical creatures roaming a strange stone structure
- Early looks at covenmate storylines
Spooky season also brought a new face. Kiara Chandra is a sardonic, gothy postgraduate student with a gift for the Arcane Arts and a practical way of handling the supernatural. Stay on her good side.
Witchbrook release date, platforms and editions

That physical plan is the collector angle. Chucklefish says it is holding the boxed versions back so they do not slow the release, and to make them truly special for physical media fans. Platforms and special editions get a formal announcement later, so wishlist now and watch the official site for the reveal.
Press play on the soundtrack
The studio also shared a new original soundtrack preview, Autumn Suite, composed by David Fenn. It is a gentle walk through the Mossport Trails as the leaves turn, and the right mood for late October.
