The notes on the album's Bandcamp page set the scene: "This Present Darkness feels like a natural evolution from Enemy, but it goes deeper and strips away any sense of confrontation as something external. This isn't about fighting what's in front of you. It's about recognizing what surrounds you, what shapes you, and what waits when the noise falls away."
Later, the notes add: "The sound is colder, more atmospheric, but also more controlled. Where Enemy pushed forward with force, This Present Darkness pulls you inward. The production carries weight without overcrowding. Low end moves like gravity, textures stretch and dissolve, and the pacing leaves space for tension to build rather than explode."
