The Avalanches just released No Bad Memories, their fourth studio album and the long wait after We Will Always Love You. It is out today on Modular and Astralwerks, with limited vinyl, CD, cassette and digital already live on the official store. Jonathan Zawada designed the artwork, and the first place most people will land is the new video for "Can't Get Over Losing You."

A guest list that fills four sides

Spotify lists 31 songs on the digital album. The vinyl tracklist on the store runs 28 cuts across four sides, which is classic Avalanches density: short transitions, long titles, and a stack of collaborators. Side A alone runs from "Bd-R" into "Together" with Nikki Nair, Jessy Lanza and Prentiss, then Ryoji Ikeda on "Xerox Altalink B8055," Loaded Honey, Jamie xx on "Every Single Weekend," and Karen O on "Blue Shadows."

Later sides pull in Rivers Cuomo and Vegyn, Erick the Architect, Mike Patton, John Glacier, Suzanne Ciani, Barry Can't Swim, Panda Bear, Carly Simon and Haruomi Hosono. Khadija Al Hanafi shows up across several songs. "Evergreen Altar," with Vegyn, is marked exclusive to vinyl, CD and cassette, so the physical versions are not just a different colorway of the same stream.

Yellow, RGB, CD, cassette

The Limited Edition Yellow 2LP is 180g heavyweight vinyl in a gatefold with printed disc sleeves and a booklet. There is also an Exclusive Limited Edition Trio (RGB) 2LP, including a signed run, plus CD (signed and standard), cassette and digital. Universal Music Japan posted the release the same day. If you want the yellow vinyl through a third party, you can get the 180g Yellow 2LP here.

Fourth album, same collage instinct

What made Since I Left You and Wildflower matter was not a single guest or sample, it was the feeling that every scrap of audio had been filed into one private radio station. No Bad Memories keeps that instinct. The titles alone tell you the mood: office hardware, traffic, corporate tags, TV spots, unicorn quests. The band is still stacking jokes and sincerity in the same pile, and the guest list is there to stretch the palette rather than to chase a chart single.

Modular and Astralwerks are handling the release, and the US store is the cleanest place to compare formats side by side. Free shipping on larger US orders is running for a limited window on the store banner, but stock on the yellow and RGB presses will move first. If you collect Avalanches vinyl, the booklet and printed sleeves are part of why the physical versions matter here, not just the color of the wax.

Where to start

Press play on "Can't Get Over Losing You" with Portraits of Tracy, then jump to "Together," "Blue Shadows," "Paradise Island" and the title track. The record is built like a long night of radio: songs bump into each other, guests appear and vanish, and the mood keeps flipping without losing the thread.
