Most hard-shell aluminum luggage is built the same way it's always been: rivets holding panels to a frame, which looks great until one corner takes a bad drop and the whole shell needs replacing because there's no way to separate the parts. Db, the Norwegian travel brand, built the Ramverk™ Alu Carry-On around the opposite idea. The construction is entirely rivet-less, held together by custom-engineered components that can be individually swapped out, so a damaged wheel housing or a bent handle doesn't mean replacing the case, just the part. Db markets this as infinitely repairable, and the mechanical logic backs up the phrase: this is a suitcase designed from the start to be taken apart.
The engineering has real names attached to real functions rather than marketing filler. An EdgeFrame runs the perimeter, absorbing and redistributing impact the way a car's body-in-white structure is designed to crumple predictably rather than transfer force straight to the passenger; a CenterFrame acts as a stable spine down the middle, improving load distribution and keeping the case's latch action feeling tight over years of use rather than loosening. The trolley handle is a unibody aluminum housing built as one piece rather than telescoping sections prone to rattling, and the exterior carry handle uses a textile wrap engineered specifically to show its own mechanical logic, a small detail that reads as confidence rather than decoration. The wheels are ultra-silent Hinomoto units built in Japan, sitting in custom housings designed for extra ground clearance and shock absorption, and the case locks with TSA-approved numerical locks built into the shell rather than bolted on.
Inside, the organization is straightforward: a dedicated laptop pocket, a tablet pocket, two pen holders, storage bays secured with two-way zippers for shoes and clothes, and mesh organizers sized for the liquids and electronics that come out at security. The Silver carry-on holds 36 liters at 54.5 by 39.5 by 22.5 centimeters and weighs 5.85 kilograms, built from a 100% aluminum frame and shell with a recycled, dope-dyed polyester lining, backed by a two-year warranty.
The Silver carry-on is currently out of stock directly from Db, though the same build is available in Check-in M and Check-in L sizes.
