Molly Hatchet is trending, and the reason is a real one: the Southern rock band has a new studio album on the way. Lost Horizon lands November 27, 2026 on Steamhammer, the rock imprint of the German label SPV, and it ends a 16-year gap since the last Molly Hatchet record. The label calls it the realization of a lifelong dream for the band, because all twelve tracks were recorded at London's Abbey Road Studios.
Guitarist Bobby Ingram leads the lineup alongside longtime bandmates John Galvin on keyboards and Tim Lindsey on bass. Two newer, younger players round it out: Garrett Ramsden on drums and Parker Lee on vocals. Steamhammer pitches it as the band's most emotional and profound album to date, with every song built on the Southern rock sound the band is known for.
What is on Lost Horizon
The record opens with an enhanced version of "Firing Line," then runs through "Whiskey Desperado," "Jacksonvillain," "Dixie Highway," the title track, "The Answer," "Moonshine All Mine," "Helter Skelter," "Stand Up For Freedom," "Stronger," the advance single "Once A Gambler" and the closer "Coming Home." On vinyl the twelve songs are split three per side across four sides, with the title track and "The Answer" swapping places compared with the CD running order.
Formats to chase
There are three physical editions. The standard 2LP pairs two solid black records in a gatefold with an insert. The label shop also has an exclusive 2LP pressed on marbled cristallo, white, blue and royal blue vinyl, and the CD comes in a digipak. Steamhammer is also running bundles that pair the records or CD with a "Firing" shirt or hoodie, all listed in its preorder section. Stock on the standalone editions has been moving, so check which versions are still open before you plan around one.
The release date matters for collectors in another way too. November 27 is Black Friday, the same day as the Record Store Day Black Friday drop, so if you are already building a list from our Record Store Day Black Friday 2026 guide, this is one more record to slot in.
See them before it drops
The band is still on the road this fall. The official Molly Hatchet tour page lists October 30 at The Paramount in Bristol, Tennessee, November 12 at Brown County Music Center in Nashville, Indiana, and November 14 at Crystal Grand Music Theatre in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. Those are the last dates on the band calendar before the album is out.
Our call
This one is Surfacing. A first Molly Hatchet album in 16 years, cut at Abbey Road, is a genuine event for Southern rock fans, and the colored exclusive is the edition most likely to disappear first. If you want vinyl, lock in your format now rather than waiting for release week. If you are buying for a longtime Southern rock fan, this belongs near the top of our gifts for vinyl collectors list.
