The notes describe Mangroves Pt. 1 and Pt. 2 as a two-part piece set in wetlands, where land and sea blur together. They contrast it with the desert setting of Atacama, the album before it. In the notes, Pt. 1 is tied to dusk and Pt. 2 to the hum of life after dark.

The notes on the single's Bandcamp page set the scene: "Mangroves Pt. 1 & Pt. 2 by w-berg drift through sonic wetlands where boundaries dissolve between land and sea, stillness and motion, presence and disappearance. These recordings feel tidal: ebbing rhythms, submerged textures, and melodies that emerge like roots breaking the surface, only to recede again beneath the murk. Where Atacama conjured arid vastness, Mangroves pulls you into the slow breath of brackish water and shadowed ecosystems."
Later, the notes add: "Each part of the diptych reflects a different light Pt. 1 leans into the hush of dusk, while Pt. 2 carries the dense hum of unseen life after dark. This is not music of arrival, but of immersion. A meditative crawl through places both ancient and resilient."
