Tickets for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping went on sale this morning. The official Hunger Games account posted at 6 AM Pacific Time on October 28: tickets are available now, and the film plays only in theaters and IMAX on November 20. IMAX, Fandango and AMC Theatres all posted the same day with the same date, and the Hunger Games account retweeted each of them.
Where to buy
The cleanest starting points are the ticket sellers the studio amplified today:
- IMAX for Filmed For IMAX showtimes on November 20. The chain is selling the film as an IMAX experience rather than a standard blow-up.
- Fandango for reserved seats across participating theaters. The overview page is live with the November 20 open.
- AMC Theatres for Dolby Cinema and standard auditoriums on November 20.
Cinemark and other chains are listing the film too. Yesterday Cinemark posted that tickets would open Wednesday at 6 AM PT, matching the studio clock. Check your local listings rather than assuming every format is open near you on day one, and buy the format you actually want before the premium rows thin out.
What it is
The film is the next chapter in Lionsgate's Hunger Games series, adapted from Suzanne Collins's novel of the same name. It follows a young Haymitch Abernathy at the 50th Hunger Games, the second Quarter Quell. The official trailer on the Hunger Games YouTube channel centers Joseph Zada as Haymitch, and the ticket campaign is built around that look at the arena years before the original trilogy.
November 20 is the date the studio and the theater partners are selling against. Some secondary listings float earlier preview language; we are sticking to the November 20 theaters and IMAX date the Hunger Games account put on the ticket post itself. If an earlier screening appears on your local chain page later, treat that as a local add-on, not the national open.
Dates
- October 27, 2026: Hunger Games posts that tickets open October 28 at 6 AM PT.
- October 28, 2026, 6 AM PT: tickets go on sale; IMAX, Fandango and AMC confirm the same morning.
- November 20, 2026: only in theaters and IMAX.
Our call
If you care about this one on a big screen, buy now while IMAX and premium formats still have inventory. The trailer already shows how much of the story sits in crowds and arenas, and that is the kind of frame that rewards a proper theater rather than waiting for home video.
Already following the music side of this release? We covered The Smashing Pumpkins track on the Sunrise on the Reaping album. For other big screens coming soon, see Behemoth on December 4 and Dune: Part Three on December 18.
