Roadside Attractions just put out the official The Gallerist trailer, and the December 4 theatrical date is now locked in the title card. The dark comedy sits at Art Basel Miami Beach, where an ambitious gallery owner played by Natalie Portman tries to claw back into elite society after a nasty separation, then turns an accidental corpse into the centerpiece of her debut show.

The full synopsis and stills live on the Roadside Attractions publicity page for The Gallerist, and the two-and-a-half-minute cut is up on the studio's RoadsideFlix channel. Influencers and police close in while Portman's character races the clock. The pitch ends on a clean question: will she end up famous, a felon, or both.

The Gallerist trailer

The cut opens on the glittering excess of the fair, then slides into the cover-up. Roadside's still set puts Portman next to Jenna Ortega, and pairs her again with Zach Galifianakis and Sterling K. Brown. Separate frames show Catherine Zeta-Jones with Daniel Bruhl and a solo of Da'Vine Joy Randolph. Every image is credited to Roadside Attractions, which is also where the official photography downloads sit for press and anyone who wants a closer look at the look of the fair floor.

What the trailer sells is tone more than plot. Portman's gallery owner is short on money, short on status, and willing to treat a fatal accident as inventory. The fair around her is packed with buyers, influencers and handlers who make the lie possible, then hard to unwind. That mix of art-world gloss and crime-comedy panic is the whole pitch, and Roadside is leaning into it with a clean December date rather than a vague winter window.

If you want the studio's wider slate around this one, start at the Roadside Attractions site. For more of the fair itself, the organizers keep dates and programs at Art Basel Miami Beach.

The Gallerist movie release date

The Gallerist movie opens in theaters on December 4, 2026. That puts it on the same Friday as other December openers already on our radar, including Behemoth, and a few weeks after this week's theatrical start for Trauma Or, Monsters All.

Portman's gallery owner is the engine. The synopsis frames her as clinging to the edge of elite society and desperate to prove herself on the heels of that separation. Ortega, Galifianakis, Brown, Zeta-Jones, Bruhl and Randolph fill out the circle around her. It is the kind of art-world crime comedy that sits next to our Halloween movie night guide more than a straight scare picture, and closer in spirit to recent studio dark comedies than to the club-kid lane of Club Kid.

Watch the trailer above, then check the Roadside Attractions Gallerist page for the latest stills before December 4. Showtimes and ticket links should follow as the studio fills in the theatrical map closer to release.
