The Barnes and Noble Criterion sale is back, and this is the November 2026 window collectors plan their whole year around. Barnes & Noble (B&N) has posted its official Criterion sale page, with the event opening Friday, November 6 and running through Sunday, December 6, 2026. It covers The Criterion Collection's 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD), Blu-ray and DVD releases, which makes it the best time of year to fill the holes on your shelf.

Searches for "barnes and noble criterion sale november 2026" and "criterion sale november 2026" have been climbing, mostly from people asking one thing: when does it start and when does it end. Here is the short version, followed by the discs we would put in the cart first.

Barnes and Noble Criterion sale November 2026: dates and end date

  • Starts: Friday, November 6, 2026
  • Ends: Sunday, December 6, 2026, per the B&N event banner
  • What's included: The Criterion Collection on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD, in stores and on the B&N Criterion Collection page

A few titles may carry separate promotions, so check the badge on each product page before you check out. A month long window also means the newest releases can sell through early, so the rare stuff is worth grabbing in the first weekend rather than the last.

What to buy in the Barnes and Noble Criterion sale

The Complete Kubrick. The big one, and the reason to shop on day one. Released October 20, this thirty disc 4K UHD and Blu-ray collector's set gathers all thirteen Stanley Kubrick features and three shorts, every one restored in 4K with Dolby Vision high dynamic range (HDR) and the original mono soundtracks alongside restored 5.1 mixes. It includes Kubrick's international version of The Shining, a new 4K restoration of Vivian Kubrick's Making "The Shining," unseen Lolita screen tests and more than twenty five hours of extras, all inside a box modeled on the director's own archive. If one purchase justifies waiting for this sale, it is this.

The Elephant Man 4K. David Lynch's second feature, director approved, with Anthony Hopkins and John Hurt in gorgeous black and white. The set adds Lynch and Kristine McKenna reading from Room to Dream, plus archival interviews with Hurt and producer Mel Brooks. New to Lynch? Start with our David Lynch starter guide.

Point Blank 4K. John Boorman's 1967 revenge thriller with Lee Marvin at his coolest, newly restored in 4K under Boorman's supervision, with a commentary by Boorman and Steven Soderbergh and a program on the film's midcentury Los Angeles architecture.

Stray Dog 4K. Akira Kurosawa's sweltering 1949 Tokyo noir, with Toshiro Mifune as the rookie cop hunting his stolen gun, in a new 4K restoration with a commentary by Kurosawa scholar Stephen Prince.

Body Heat 4K. Lawrence Kasdan's 1981 debut, the erotic thriller that rewired film noir for the eighties, with Kathleen Turner in a star making turn and a John Barry score. The restoration was supervised by editor Carol Littleton and approved by Kasdan.

Make a list before Friday. Spine numbers make it easy to see what you already own, and our guide to The Criterion Collection explained walks through where to start if you are building from scratch. Prioritize box sets and new 4K releases, since those are the titles that cost the most the rest of the year. Limited packaging and new 4K box sets are the titles most likely to sell through first.

Shopping more boutique labels this month? The Manhunter 4K from Vinegar Syndrome is the cult pick of the season, and our early Black Friday 2026 dates cover the rest of the calendar.
