Zach Bryan's new album is here, and it hits fast. Young Manhood and Other Donatable Organs is an eight song extended play (EP) that landed today, October 16, and searches for "zach bryan new album" have been climbing since the tracklist went up. It runs 29 minutes, it comes out through Belting Bronco Records under exclusive license to Warner Records, and the song everyone is pressing play on first is "Lies," his duet with Lana Del Rey.
Eight songs, two very different guests
The official store listing lays out the run: "Lodi When," "Robot Killed The Working Man," "Lies" featuring Lana Del Rey, "Dog Days," "Backwards," "Plainsman" featuring Turnpike Troubadours, "Is The Blue Tangled in You?" and "You'll Get By." That is a short record by his standards, and it plays like one long late night drive instead of a sprawling double album.
The two features pull in opposite directions, which is the fun part. Lana Del Rey brings that hazy, cinematic hush to "Lies," and Bryan leans into it rather than shouting over it. "Plainsman" goes the other way, with Oklahoma's Turnpike Troubadours giving it a dusty red dirt swing. If you only have ten minutes, play those two back to back, then go back to the opener "Lodi When."
The numbered vinyl and the book
This is where the money moment is. The 12 inch numbered vinyl is an initial pressing limited to 5,000 units, with every copy individually numbered, and at the time of writing the official store shows it sold out. The hardcover book of the same name is also showing sold out. The store describes it as a ten year period piece where Bryan looks back at his childhood, his honorable discharge from the Navy, the climb from small theaters to three night stadium sellouts, and his vices and mistakes along with the wins. For a songwriter who barely does interviews, that is the closest thing to a memoir fans have gotten.
The compact disc is still in stock on the official store, and the vinyl and book bundle page is still up, so check it before you assume everything is gone. The "initial pressing" wording leaves room for more vinyl later, so watch the official store before paying resale prices.
