Derrick Stembridge released Awake Yet Dreaming on March 20, 2026 through Labile Records. It is a single that runs 5:06.
Inside the release
The notes describe Awake Yet Dreaming as a track built from layers of airy guitar, sustained distortion and a steady rhythm. It is about being fully present while life feels wide open. According to the notes, the guitars swell and pull back in waves and the piece ends in quiet suspension rather than a big finish.
The notes add that the piece is not about drifting away but about recognizing how much space there is in simply being here. Derrick Stembridge wrote and recorded it.
From the release notes
The notes on the single's Bandcamp page set the scene: "Awake Yet Dreaming is both immersion and elevation a state of full presence wrapped in atmosphere, where clarity rises through layers of sound. Built from cascading ethereal guitars, sustained distortion, and a steady undercurrent of rhythm, Derrick Stembridge explores the sensation of being completely awake while life feels luminous and expanded."
Later, the notes add: "The music swells like breath moving through open air, gathering density, releasing weight. Guitars bloom and recede in waves; harmonics shimmer against a grounded pulse; textures stretch wide without breaking focus. The track closes not in collapse, but in quiet suspension the feeling of standing fully inside your life while sensing its depth all at once."
