Pathways II reunites Derrick Stembridge's Drifting In Silence with Drew M. Geiger of E J R M, picking up from their 2022 collaboration Pathways, according to the notes. Stembridge brings piano, guitar and layered atmospheres, and Geiger adds organic detail. The notes describe five slow, deliberate tracks rooted in ambient and drone, starting with Flickrbody.

The notes on the EP's Bandcamp page set the scene: "With Pathways II, Drifting in Silence once again joins forces with Drew M. Geiger of E J R M to continue the sonic terrain first explored on their 2022 collaboration. The album feels both expansive and inward-facing a work that presses forward with quiet confidence. While rooted in ambient and drone, the pacing here is deliberate and tactile."
Later, the notes add: "Geiger's organic contributions lend a lived-in quality to the record grounding the ethereal with detail and grain. Pathways II builds on the character of its predecessor, offering five tracks that feel sculpted rather than simply composed. Each one exists as a self-contained moment but contributes to a larger emotional topography."
