Erica Synths, the Riga, Latvia instrument maker known for Eurorack modular gear (the modular synthesizer format that uses interchangeable modules in a shared case), just made its hands-on drum system easier to get into. On October 12 the brand posted that KONSTRUKT-8 Assembled is live: the same eight-module analog drum machine as the build-it-yourself kit, already put together and ready to play out of the box. Estimated shipping is due October 13, 2026.

What KONSTRUKT-8 actually is

KONSTRUKT-8 is a live performance and sound-design instrument built from eight Eurorack modules in a dedicated enclosure with an integrated power supply. Erica Synths is clear about the design brief. There are no menus, no presets and no shared controls that you have to reassign between voices. Every parameter has its own front-panel knob or switch, and every voice has its own sequencer channel.

Four fully analog drum voices sit at the center. The Kick Drum uses a resonant bridged-T network for deep, punchy kicks. The Snare Drum layers filtered transistor noise over a tuned resonator. The Hi-Hat mixes six dissonant square-wave oscillators, then filters and overdrives them into metallic hats. The Frequency Modulation (FM) Drum runs two interacting oscillators that can cover kicks, toms, bells, cymbal-like hits, and even simple bass lines and leads.

Rhythm comes from a four-channel drum sequencer that lets you tap patterns in real time. Under the hood, shift registers store each pattern as a circular sequence of binary data. Two syncable triangle low-frequency oscillators (LFOs) handle voice modulation. All four voices feed a four-channel mixer with per-channel effects sends, a variable master diode distortion and a master insert point.

Two effect modules finish the system: an analog bucket-brigade delay (BBD) with flanger and delay modes, and a diode-based compressor with sidechain capability. Headphone and line outputs are built in. The assembled unit measures 26.5 by 27.5 by 6 centimeters. The package includes the enclosure, power supply and fifteen braided patch cables (five each at 20, 30 and 60 centimeters). The eight modules stay fully compatible with other Eurorack systems if you later pull them into a larger case.

Assembled versus the EDU DIY kit

KONSTRUKT-8 started as an educational do-it-yourself (DIY) drum system. The build-it-yourself version still lives on the shop as KONSTRUKT-8 // EDU DIY Drum System, listed at an official price of €490 before VAT. Assembled is the same instrument for people who want to play first and learn the circuits later. Erica Synths lists Assembled at an official price of €520 before VAT (stock-keeping unit KON-621), with the note that shipping is estimated for October 13, 2026. Outside the European Union, local taxes and shipping apply on top.

Both versions sit in the brand's drum machines lineup. The October 12 news post frames Assembled simply: the analog knob-per-function drum machine is now available pre-assembled. That is the whole pitch.

Why it matters

Most boutique analog drum machines either hide the sound in menus or lock you into a fixed box. KONSTRUKT-8 keeps every voice and every effect as a real module you can see, patch and eventually move. Assembled removes the soldering barrier without watering down that idea. If you have been watching Erica Synths from the Eurorack side and wanted a self-contained rhythm instrument instead of a case full of separate modules, this is the cleanest on-ramp the brand has posted.
