Two of the best co-op games of the decade now have records to match. iam8bit, the label known for pressing game music onto vinyl, has opened preorders for the It Takes Two and Split Fiction soundtracks on double LP (long-playing record) and CD (compact disc). Both scores come from Hazelight Studios, the studio behind both games, and every cover is new art by illustrator Naomi VanDoren.
Split Fiction on vinyl
The Split Fiction double LP gathers 20 tracks from the game, mastered for vinyl. The iam8bit exclusive edition is pressed on what the label calls Mio and Zoe Vinyl, named for the game's two heroes and the cover art shows Mio and Zoe mid leap through a glowing portal. Side A opens with the Split Fiction Main Theme and runs through Brave Knights, The Monkey King and Might of Dragons. Side D closes on The Prisoner, Final Showdown and In Love.
It Takes Two on vinyl
iam8bit bills the It Takes Two double LP as the soundtrack of the 2021 Game of the Year. Its exclusive edition comes on Cody and May Vinyl, after the two leads at the center of the story. The tracklist hits the levels players still talk about, from Spaced Out and Hopscotch to Clockworks, Murder Microphones and Deadly Disco, before the record ends on Dance Maker, Audio Surf and End Credits.
The co-op bundle
Since both games are built for two players, iam8bit is also selling them as a pair. The Co-Op Vinyl Bundle puts both soundtracks together, four discs and more than thirty tracks, in custom packaging by VanDoren. There is a matching Co-Op CD Bundle, and each album is also sold on its own CD. The label pitches the bundle as a way to grab an extra copy for your player two, which fits the spirit of the games.
Preorder window and shipping
The iam8bit exclusive editions are preorder only, and the store lists November 23 as the date preorders close. Shipping is set to begin in the first quarter of 2027. iam8bit also notes that the art and design shown are still works in progress, so final details may shift before the records ship.
If you would rather pick these up from a record shop, Light in the Attic lists retail editions too. Split Fiction comes on Two Worlds Vinyl, and It Takes Two comes on Better Together Vinyl, each with a CD version alongside. For current pricing and stock, check the iam8bit store or ask your local shop.
Why it matters
Hazelight builds games around two people playing side by side, and the music does a lot of the work of keeping both players moving together. Track titles like Deadly Disco and Gravity Bike read like a map of the best moments in each game. Having both on wax, with art made just for these pressings, turns them into something more than merch.
If game music on vinyl is your lane, we also covered the Kingdom Soundworks vinyl by Amos Roddy, and Nintendo fans should catch up on the Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 and the Ocarina of Time remake. For something darker to spin, there is John Carpenter's Lost Themes II Expanded.
